Well all other builds are done, so it looks like it's time to start my P-47 ARF with slight mods. This will be my first warbird, first plane with retracts and completely different from my normal routine.

I started a thread on this engine (Torqpro 70cc 4-stroke) last week just for fun, and in case anyone was interested. I fired it up and with the bendy straw header it sounds absolutely terrible. However it ran good, so I can fix the sound. I got one brief run with a DLE120 muffler duck taped to the end of the pipe and it sounded really nice.....till the tape melted. So I'm going to try to fab something.

As you can see I did not care for the scheme and have already started modifying that and will get more into that in the next week or two.

First project will be to fit this engine, fab some exhaust and make sure that will all work.

Make that exhaust come out the two ports on the side of the fuse the way Tseres (Tom) did! Also I hope that engine has the umph to swing a 4-blade!.

Do you plan to fiberglass it up and do rivets/panels/weathering?

The engine swings the prop like it's not even on there. Actually I had planned on a DLE55 so I tested the prop on there and it did really well too. I'm going to do this in a couple stages, first I'm going to build the plane and get it flying. I plan to fly it this summer and then next year look at doing some weathering, panel lines, etc.

I'm not sure I'll be able to get the exhaust out like Tom's but I do plan to try. With the carb placement on this engine my muffler will actually end up being in that area just in front of the wing.

Terry & a Warbird....WHAT is the world coming to?!?!?!?!
I've already been called FOG by all my local guy's. The FBI guy's usually do a warbird gaggle or two at the events they go to, even huckfests. So I'm looking forward to taking part in that. Also looking forward to going to an actual warbird event. I've heard that the Owatanna MN event is very cool with some really impressive birds. There is another one in Fond Du Lac WI May be a nice change of pace for one event during the year.
