Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Raining like mad here too. We had the fourth wettest April on record for Juneau. Sun came out for a little bit today before work so I was working on teaching the kiddos how to throw a chuck glider. Told my little boy to run and throw it, so he raaaaannn, then stopped, and threw it. LOL but he...

You're too kind. I should just leave plane in up there. Some family on my wife's side live in Georgia, might be a good excuse to come see them once a year.

Yup. I have to fly my 104NG via Air Cargo to the nearest facility so ATL it is.

I wish it was one week earlier for that reason. If you were to just attend Tuesday and leave Friday you’d at least get to experience the size of this event at its peak. It’s a lot of work for me to make it happen again. Shipping my airplane on air cargo next week, have to pick it up M-F...

I've lined up some kid helpers so I can attend this year. Looking like I might be there Monday and leaving Friday. Anyone else going?

Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

During your builds I always notice how everything fits very nicely, the wood is always clean/sanded, and no excess glue. Bravo!

Discussion The I’m Going/Went Flying Thread

Took the TA Horizons Stol X out for its maiden flight along with my pocket radio on ELRS. Everything went great. The plane flies quite slow with flaperons, 2S won’t let it 3D much, so might try 3S. I’ve been chasing my kids around the parked car in the driveway with ease to give you an idea...

Sport Racing plane for 3 cylinder Kolm engine.

They don't add a lot of weight; I'd still use them even if using thin balsa. I always figured the advantage is to create rigidity of the noodle spars - thus reducing the flex in the wing at a very small weight penalty. I've seen them used more where the wing center section area and once they...

You can always buy an external ELRS module if you want later down the road. I got the CNC gimbals for it, I don't think they are worth the hype and the plastic ones felt less clunky to me. Otherwise the fit and feel of this radio is quite nice and ergonomic!

Scale Wendell Hostetler 30% Piper Cherokee Glass Fuselage Build.

I remember making 3D Printed baffles and was amazed how much lighter the fiberglass versions were that I redesigned and created from molds. Close to half the weight savings going glass.

The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

I've been putting together a foamy with my new radio master pocket radio on ELRS, neat radio... definitely not what I'm used to (Futaba). CH5 on ELRS was designed for a drone arming switch, so for the life of me I did not understand why I couldn't make CH5 my aileron 2 channel.... and why it...

Sounds like you've got fuel, Could the kick be from just having too much...
