The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

Came down with a bad cold and could not fly today. So I have been piddling in the shop.......

Went with 3/8" square basswood stock instead of carbon rod cuz I CHEAP!

so its true,,, a square peg will fit into a round hole!

No work in my workshop today, but after a nice lunch a friend and I spent the afternoon working on his Carf 35% Extra 330SC. He's never been big on radio set ups so I lent him a hand.

This setup is a bit more complicated because he wanted to try Bavarian Demon Cortex gyro. Since the Cortex only has 5 outputs, 1 for the rudder 2 for the elevators and 2 for the ailerons we used a Booma RC IM22 Intellimatch for the 4 aileron servos. We have everything working and doing what it should, but before it's maiden I need to go over everything again just to be sure.

I'm anxious to get my hand on the sticks on this one. Hopefully he'll be a pal and give me a shot.

About 6 months ago @flycanic hooked me up with a new set of Tetherite landing gear for my Redwing 20cc Sbach Profile. The stock gear is stiff and narrow. Which leaves no room for error. The Tetherite gear has some flex and is about 6" wider and an inch or so taller. So I finally got around to installing it today. Also installed a little larger wheels. The stock ones are so small the look like peg legs.

Then I rebuilt the gas tank since it been sitting a couple years. Also replaced all the plumbing.

Yes tetherlites are awesome gear.

Anyone else hate that feeling of wanting to go down and work on an airplane, but you can't because you're waiting on materials to show up?



Guess that means I have to do other stuff like go outside and ride the motorcycle or something..

I just make something else to do if it needs it or not..........cuz I CHEAP. But I know what you mean. New props telemetry gizmos, motors, coming from HK. Should be here Wednesday. Turbo cool spinner and 5mm prop adaptors coming from tower (who knows when?) They promptly show you order processed and take your money but they send the guy with two broken knee caps to the warehouse to actually fill and ship it out.

I got that going on with Chief right now, placed an order early yesterday morning, they sure are taking their sweet time figuring it out.
