Funnel hovers

I'm struggling with funnel hovers. They look really easy, but I'm having problems finding the sweet spot where the plane sits at the same altitude or slowly ascends. What usually happens is that I over compensate with the ailerons (I think) after a few turns and the plane flips over inverted and falls out of the hover. Any ideas on how to practice funnel hovers?

A funnel hover is basically a very tight inverted harrier turn. The simplest way to practice them and learn the proper technique would be to start practicing inverted harrier turns. As you practice, focus on making the turns tighter and tighter. You will quickly learn what inputs are required and how to modulate these inputs to keep the plane from falling out.

That's how I learned to do them. Practicing inverted harrier turns has helped with other manuveurs also.

For me to find the sweet spot I usually modulate the ailerons, pump the throttle . Also try not to overpower while holding a lot of elevator but if you do and follow through you can pull off a pretty cool climbing funneling flat spin turnaround and start over trying a Funnel. They are pretty fun to mess around with.

So I guess inputs would be slightly up elevator with rudder and a little opposite alerion to keep it from fallin out

I usually go inverted full right rudder, full down elevator. Modulate the ailerons and manage your throttle. Sometimes I have to slightly back off the elevator.
