IMAC The new Dalton 300 SP / 330

Happy Father's day to all my friends!

Maybe tomorrow, the wife will let me go to the club!

Just finished the other stab. All that is left to do is to cover the wings.

Tomorrow, I will install the radio, throttle servo, rudder servos, and the elevator servos. And the gas tank.
 
Just installed the throttle servo and also, screwed on the headers. The servo mounting screws are aluminum, they are 1/3rd the weight of the steel screws.

all I have to do now, is connect the fuel lines, and set up the choke lever, then I can install the bottom cowl.
Then I will install the servos to the rudder and elevators.

The radio, was easy to do. I just copied my Dalton 300 ML, and made a new model, and renamed it Dalton 3oo SP.
It has all the mixes, alarms, voice activations with switches, low idle switch, and logical switches, and this can get adjusted as I go along.
I did reset all the servo sub trims to zero, and all the travel to 125 both ways.

Cam, as you know I am all about weight lately! Realistically, how much weight do you think you saved using aluminum screws?

LOL!
i know, it will be ounces, when I use these, but an ounce her and an ounce there, it all adds up.

Almost done with the motor, just installed the RPM sensor as well.

Soon, I can install the bottom cowl, and show the baffles to @Rusty 73 , so he can see how this works.
 
I'm digging that covering on the stabs Cam. Keep up the good work.

another update:

I have now installed the choke lever, and the bottom and top cowl, and the propeller.

I have temp sensors and rpm sensor all installed.

Here are a few pictures of the baffles:


this is integrated into the cowl, by Tony Russo @WoodisGood . The air enters from the front, and pressure builds up in the front, and then the air is forced down, between the fins.

the top cowl has this 1/2" balsa "wall", so that when I place the top cowl on, this blocks air from getting behind the firewall. The air stays in the front compartment, between the top cowl and the top of the bottom cowl cut out of the motor.

you may or may not get to see the back wall here. Hard to get a picture of it, out in the sun. Maybe I can take a picture of it at night time with the flash on.

Here is another attempt, no luck in seeing it. Sure is dark in there! ;)

SO, I weighed it, and with no wings, but the fuselage as shown, and with fuel tanks in there, and 4 servos for the tail, and the central box and 2 batteries, total weight is 38 pounds. No way this will weigh 42 pounds. Unless the wings weighed 2 pounds, which they do not, they will weigh about 3.25 pounds each. so I suspect this airplane will have an up weight of 46 pounds. Only way to get it to 44 pounds is to remove the canisters and go with stock muffs.
