Is a DLE-61 any good?

Thanks for the info Ben.

Once again I don't want to flame DA. They make great engines and I wouldn't judge anyone for buying one naturally. But I am digging some of the different manufacturers that have come out and seem to provide a good engine for the money.

Not a problem BEN, DA has done enough for the community that it would take a lot more than one bad engine to make a dent in their reputation. Their quality control and customer service are second to none, your experience is one of the few bad ones I've ever heard of.

I'd have bought your engine if it wasn't sold already when I messaged you and I'd have trusted DA to get it right if there were still problems with it.

Dang just saw this. I have a da 60 just laying around with no plans to use for anything. I don't have a muffler though, it vibrated off shortly after I bought the DA70 at Nall, I guess it knew it was getting replaced....lol

Mine did go back to DA last October where they replaced the bearings, new piston and ring, and replaced the ignition cable/plug cap that had some slight damage from vibration. Other than that it was a rock solid motor for the 2.5 years I flew it...and I flew the poo out of it and got my money's worth. I never experienced the burble that some complain about but I had the low end tuned lean enough that it needed a warm up before it transitioned...never had any deadsticks and the engine ran like a top up until the bearing started to go. After the trip to DA it was like new again. Only real annoying problem I had with it was the mufflers breaking, I was on my 3rd one. I thought that was what happened at Nall until I realized the next day the whole muffler had came off and I never found it.

I don't plan on ever listing it because I'm kinda finicky about selling/buying used motors over the internet to someone I've never met but if anybody sees this and is interested i'm open to entertain the idea. I see you already went with a DLE61 @Bartman...

Thanks for the reply @jhelber08 ....with any luck I'll maiden the plane soon and might try to build another either from scratch or from a kit if I can find one. If that happens I'll holler at you about that engine.
Thanks for chiming in, glad to hear it worked out well for you

I hope this engine is a good one. I have bought one for a Redwing RC Extra that I am about to begin working on soon as it cools down a little. My garage gets too hot in the evenings right now to go out there. Poor timing on my part to work on the plane. I just stare at it sitting in the box!
