Looks like this 45% is ready to have the ZDZ bolted in, just need to cut a hole large enough for the carb to slip through. Ordered up some 1/2" SWB standoffs to get the engine bolted in.

Need to get to the hardware store and find out what size bolt the cowl uses since they're missing.

I went to the pond for a while to cool off and, then went to the garage to do the finishing touches on the covering, but I quit before I even got started... Tired.... [emoji19][emoji19]

I NEED to get it finished in the next couple weeks, because then we'll be busy in harvest and I for sure won't work in it for 2 months probably.

The almighty ZDZ180. This thing is a BEAST!! It's my first big boy powerplant, I am so stoked right now. Huge HUGE thank you to Joe and Nicole at ZDZ USA for their help and solidifying my decision in a ZDZ180 purchase!!!! I am a VERY happy camper right now :banana-dance:
What airframe are you mounting that bad boy in? I've been looking at 40%ers but cant decide what to get.

Edit: Disregard I didn't got back far enough to see the airframe pic.

Prototype airplane ;)

If I had to pick from something currently on the market right now then I'd go with a Pilot Extra or Edge.

So I was piddling with the sukhoi and saw my second fuel tank sitting up on the shelf. It got me thinking about adding smoke to it. I have the tank, the pump, and all the lines needed to do it. Figure I will go ahead and set the plane up first without it and see where we come in wieght wise and go from there. Looks as though the smoke setup I have will add around 11 oz to the airframe.

Question for all. I found a nice polished aluminum spinner a while back and picked it up. Should I leave it polished aluminum of sand it down and shoot some white paint on it to match the way the full scale was.

You know me...........keep it Scale! But I do like a Shiny "Bling" Spinner as well.

Only one picture and not of most of the progress on the night. Got the stabs and elevators hinged and servos installed and hooked up. Using a smart fly equalizer on them and got them set up perfectly and matched at full travel both ways. Also got the rudder hinged up and pull-pull cables installed. Lastly I secured a single fuel tank for the time being. After I have it done and weigh it I will make the call on smoke or not. All in all this PAU Sukhoi is coming together very nicely. If it wasn't for me leaving for vacation on Sunday I might of tried to maiden it. Guess it will have to wait a couple weeks.

The only thing I can say is Jetpainter painted a spinner a little time back and it was beautiful. If I could paint like him all my spinners would be painted but unfortunately I can not paint like him so all mine are polished till they really shine. It takes time and some really black hands.

I put smoke in my PAU Su-26. used a 20oz waterbottle to save some weight. It still adds quite a bit of weight. Plane still flies great on the 3W55CS I have in it..
