My wife says.....

what does your loved one say about our hobby?





last week, we got into an argument, actually, it was me listening...



she says i am addicted to model airplanes, so i believe come monday, it will be a full 7 days without me ordering or purchasing anything hobby related....

My wife doesn't say as much as give me THE LOOK when the big brown truck pulls in the drive. The look will shorten your lifespan.

My ex hated my airplanes,so when I started dating my current wife I told her " This is my hobby,I don't go out partying, I don't drink or do drugs, I don't chase other women, I fly rc airplanes. Don't ever try to come between me and my hobby and we will get along fine." She never has.

My wife would be happy if I would just stick with planes... I have too many hobbies and she complains that I just don't stick with 'one' thing...



I call it my circle... each hobby gets some time, as I work my way around the circle... sometimes it takes me a few years to work my way back to one of them... but they stay on the circle...



Just got 'back around' to the planes again... selflessly, just to make the wife happy... going to make a real effort to stick to only one hobby for a while this time...

My wife is fine with my hobby, but when something hobby-related is delivered to the house, my daughter ALWAYS reminds me that I still need to pay to send her to college...

You guys will hate me.

I met my girl at the flying field, I was divorced, she was getting divorced,

she was messing around with some of her fathers old models and came out to field to get advice about flying.



We became close friends and after about 3 years we decided to move in together we have our ups and downs like everyone else

but our passion for flying gives things to do together



We travel the north east going to events, We try to make it to Joe Nall as much as we can, we do some formation flying together

We do some building together



But here are the things we fight over lol

we compete over space in the model room, are you using my batteries again? wheres the glue? you never put anything back!

Which airplanes are you bringing? make up your mind! I need to load the truck!

Get out of bed I want to get there early for once! lol

My wife says I'm addicted as well. I remind her that I don't drink and when I'm gone I'm not at strip clubs but at the flying field. I don't look at porn, just airplane videos. My biggest problem is space for storing airplanes and it looks like a tornado came through when I'm putting one together. I think that's what ticks her off the most. We did move to a new house with a bigger garage and a guest house. The plan was to use the guest house as my man cave but we ended up renting it out to friends of ours while they build their house. Hopefully over the next year when they move out or I get my shop built that will no longer be an issue.



It also helps that other people post pictures of their hangar's and I show them to her and she realizes that I'm only half crazy compared to other people.



I work offshore so I'm gone half the year as it is. When I'm home I've been making an honest effort lately to set aside days that are just for her and I where planes are not allowed and I think that goes along ways to help with things. I've also always been honest with her about how much everything costs which has cost me a new sewing machine, some new clothes, and a few weekend vacations but I've found that to be a small expense towards our happiness in the end. I also can't complain now, she sends me email notifications on when new plane parts arrive and that's pretty much all the time while I'm gone.

My wife for the most part is okay with my RC hobby but from time to time I do get the , " Boys and their Toys".

My wife suggested I get into the hobby in the first place. Not sure she realized what she was really getting me into! On those rare occasions when she goes into my plane room and sees a new addition she asks how I decide which plane I'm going to fly. I smile and ask her how she decides which pair of black shoes she is going to wear!

Mine would say flying with the guys anytime, rather than out riding the harley.
