Sport JTEC RADIOWAVE 26% Pitts Model 12

Snoopy1

640cc Uber Pimp
With my kids doing their thing with their other family members today, I was blessed with a little time to do a little more covering on the Pitts. I am really taking my time with the Pitts as I want to make sure I get it right....the "FIRST" time. LOL.

Here are a few more photos of the stabs, fin and bottom of the lower wings. Not much really done, but hey.... about six hours of covering. Ugh.... Hee hee

I am going to wait to put any trim around the leading edges of all the surfaces until after the entire plane is covered. I need to get my art supplies and tools out so I can start drawing up the trim templates. I will transfer the drawings to my fiberboard and duplicate the trim as I did with the big Yak when I recovered it the second time.

More still to come, I will post more as I proceed.

Hoping everyone had a wonderful, warm and blessed Christmas.
Do sleep or just work on it 24 -7 you are quick but it does look good like the purple.

I like 'em "BIG"!
A little more covering done the last couple of days. I have to say, the bottom of the Pitts is by far one of the most DIFFICULT I have ever covered. Normal challenge is either a rounded fuse that tapers, which to me is not bad. Or a squared fuse that is a breeze to cover. Heck, even the big Yak was not this difficult. I suppose it would have been easier if I were going with one solid color. However since I decided on the scheme I did, I had to take into consideration where my color break lines were going to be to match the scheme I am wanting to do. Plus, add to that a rounded, tapering, slanting, slimming shape...it was far more than I wanted to attack. But I got it. I was almost to the point of doing a completely different scheme. Somehow I managed to pull it off and I have to say, it is bringing a smile to my face. I did however change up my original color choice. I realized I didn't have enough Orange and really didn't want to order yet another roll of covering. I had a new roll of HANU883 "Flame Red" Ultracote so, "THAT" was the choice. I actually think I am going to like it. After all, I already have one orange plane right?

So here we go....a few more photos of the Pitts with a few more clothes on her naked flesh.

I realized "AFTER" I put down the white side panels, I should have done those "AFTER" the bottom was in place. But to my defense, I have nearly 350 hours into building and covering this plane so far. I am starting to wish I never started it. LOL

I drew the lines on the sides to locate the bottom purple edges to end at.

Bottom Purple panel cut and ready to be placed on the fuse.

And now for a little stripe-age for the sides.

I am planning on getting the other side of the top of the turtle deck covered tomorrow. Then I will put the Purple accent stripe/scallop on the fin and do the top of the stab trim. Once I have that much completed, I can go back to the wings and start on those. I will probably have to order a roll of covering since I did change colors. But I would have had to order some anyway. At least I will have plenty to do to keep me busy until it arrives. I will probably get the hatch/canopy covered also. Will just have to see how much time I have tomorrow.

As always, thanks to everyone for following along. More yet still to come.

For those of you that may have not followed along page by page, this is the scheme I am attempting to duplicate. Not sure I am going to keep it completely as the original full scale or if I may mix it up just a tick. But the basic theme will be pretty darn close either way.
