Oh...duh. You meant the cross brace that the Pilot is affixed to?
Yes the cross braces the pilot sits on needs some colour. Other than that it is perfect. Have you noticed when people build ARFS when they are done they get flown without much difficulties but when it is scratch built it is a different story at least that is how I am. When you follow @Jetpainter he is also apprehensive about flying his scratch built plane, I think it is because we put a little bit of our souls into it and to much work.

For me, that is exactly what my conflict is. I mean like last weekend I maidened the new Edge. Though I was a little apprehensive, I had no issue blazing to the field, readying the plane and mashin' the gas pedal to the floor. By the second and third flight, I had that girls rudder 1" from the deck in a hover five feet from my face. Ha, I highly doubt the Pitts will see below 300 feet for about ten flights. Other than landing of course. I think it is the effort, the love, the appreciation, the overall out come of all the hard work. Suffice it to say, I want to fly it. But I'll be patient. 7 months of building, covering and painting. I'll just put it together from time to time just to look at it. Lol

To me and I think some can relate. On something you built and put your heart and soul into is like having kids, You love them to death and you will do anything to see that they are successful and protected.

Take your time, fly it when your ready and enjoy the moment!!

Love your answer was laying on the ground from laughter how true. All my kit and scratch built take a long time hanging around the house before they get flown. Even the little Sportster I am building and changed everything on it I will definitely be flying it with more care than my extra with a 85 in it. And as you said 300 ft high.

Best advise I can give you about the maiden of a plane you built is this, DON'T OVER THINK IT. Wait untill the day your gut says its time, and then just do it. If you keep waiting until the perfect day, or until all the stars and planets align, you'll just end up being a nervous wreck. And that's when problems happen.

Here's what I always tell myself when its time to maiden.

It can only have 2 outcomes... It flies, or it don't :)

Thanks for that. I usually look at it the same way. It will either fly, or it won't. And if it does, great. If it doesn't? Well, then all I can say is....."NEXT". Of course the weather all week is supposed to be sunny and warm. Low to now winds. Grrr....oh well, I got a lot accomplished on the big Yak today so it wasn't a total loss. :way_to_go:
