SO I'm curious what people are using for power on a single or dual A123 with one Rx and a TechAero IBEC for a 35cc 3D plane. I've done a single 2500 A123 to a modified Miracle switch (for the 3 wire version batteries for the balance tap/pwr feed) on a Cub.
My concern is will that be enough wire to support 5-6 digital servos, and the TechAero on a 3D 35cc plane? I cant seem to make up my mind.... debating:
2x 1100 A123 on a booma pin flag switch.
1x 2500 A123 3wire to a single switch with one 18g or (two 20ga) leads.

Keeping in mind this is for one Rx only and I think two 2500's are overkill. I don't have any data supporting the thoughts in my brain, hoping someone else has experience with this...? My perfect outcome is a solution that supports the high drain of 5-6 thirsty 1270/7955 servos and a Tech Aero. Thoughts?

In the 3DHS 75" extra I just got it came with a pair of Pulse 2550mah 2S lipos. I'm not running high voltage servos so I'm swapping out to a pair of 1600mah 2S LiFe packs and I'm sure it will be more than enough. In my big PAU Sukhoi im running 2 2500mah life packs and at the end of a flying day if i put 4 ten minute flights on it I know I will put back in about 550-600mah back into each pack depending on how hard I flew the plane. Now I have a 55cc slab (mind you it weighs 13.4lbs so its more in the 35cc weight range) that I'm running a single 2500mah life pack. Most I have done on it in a day is 5 eight minute flights and when I recharged the batt i put back in around 1200mah so not quite half the charge. With that said I think I would be willing to put five flights total on it before recharging.

So with all that I would say either way the single 2500 or the pair of 1100 will work great on a 35cc plane. I would prolly go with the two packs for redundancy but thats just me. Only reason I havent done it on my big profile is I didnt have a second power switch at the time I set it up.

Thanks for the info. I would also think that two 1100 A123's would share the load quite well. Might be worth a try because I have a Booma pin flag switch just sitting around. It would solve my question about having enough amps pumping through one pack for the rx and tech aero...

On my helicopters I never liked using the BEC on the ESC so I ran a 2100mah LiFe battery to power the receiver, gyro and servos. But the idea of all the power to run everything entering the receiver through one set of 20 gauge wires never made me happy either. I made a harness that had two 20 gauge leads soldered to the Deans that plugged into the battery. Of course on a heli you don't need a switch which makes it easier and one less failure point.

This is what I had done originally. Maybe I just shouldn't mess with it.
It's not an issue to Y it off (as shown in lower pic) and put both ends into the same receiver is it? Its going into a Futaba R6208SB Rx, I presumed it's like a data bus, since futaba says you can put a Y harness to any servo and connect an additional power source. Never once do they talk about two leads off one battery into one Rx. . . that I know of.

I would think that helps current flow and reduce voltage drop. Like what you did. I did a similar "beef up" but two switches and two batteries for redundancy and further minimizing voltage drop (two heads better than one as they say lol). 6 amp toggles (vice stock 3 amp) and 18awg wire from the batteries to the receiver with HD XT60 connectors.

What is everyone doing since spectrum 9 and 10 channel fail safe receivers have been taken of the market.

Being that I am "new" to Spektrum I went with the AR8000 and 1 satellite since my Tx is 8ch and it came with the transmitter along with a cool "Atomic" radio case for a great price . No problems so far. And the single remote DSMX satellite Rx work great in my QQ300 and Rock Star park flyers using the Aura 8. (I don't use gyros in my big gassers though. Just a personal preference). I think they are great for small electrics though. I see you can get a 7 channel 7350 and 9 channel 9350 with built in telemetry and AS3X gyro though and the 9 channel built in telemetry with the AR9030 Rx.

Personally If I had the DX9 black edition I would run AR9030 Rx's and dual HD power leads Like I did with the AR8000. The AR8000 has no telemetry built in though and requires a TM1000 module.
