If you want really good texture on it they sell some that has sand in it. Will prolly work really well even with sweety hands.

Posted original image again for reference. I think it looks awesome and with the white primer it helps lighten it up a bit. I found some of the black hammered metal look paint at walmart last night. Looking at the cap where they spray it to show the look though it didn't look very good. Looked more like paint that had fisheyed really bad from poor surface prep. Thought maybe it was that one can but every can looked the same so I opted to just stick with the silver.
What does everyone think?
Be interesting to see how it looks with everything back together, so hurry up already :D

Got started on it last night. Mind you the gimbals are just sitting there for the picture as I have new ones coming that look a lot better than that.

Did some damage assessment on the slick... lots of cracks! Looked over it after strategically removing some covering, may have added some tears to my beer in the process. I think it's done. The problem is that there is no 74" edges available to replace it still!! It's so hard to get airframes here I don't want to settle for something other than what's on my mind (orange or demonstrator scheme) I need to run the engine to clear it out before I store it. Thing was running like a top, I may play around with putting a smoke fitting on the muff before I take it off.

Eventually decided to stop staring at the slick and put my final coat of poly on my workbench.

Thanks Mike! Boy it took way too long! Over engineered by me, you can river dance on that bench if you wanted.

It's 2x4's glues together, planed, supported by 4x4's and 2x6 trusses, screwed to the wall, covered in a silky combo of minwax special walnut and cherry, top is special walnut Danish oil. edge of the bench is walnut. everything coated in polyacrylic.
The pegboard is metal... kinda noisy, but you can do a lot with it.

Very nice work bench, that will last you a life time. One question did you have a plainer big enough to run it through.
