Ok, I will cave. There are days during the early morning hours of summer, when some of the glow guys come out to fly that I actually wait for the reeeeen reeeeen reeeeen..... of the two stroke glow motors. Or the putt-putt-putt of the four stroke nitro misers. With a hot cup of coffee in hand, I will put my nose to the direction of the running nitro motors and take in a deep breath. Yes, I do sometimes miss the smell and the awesomeness of my Hemi Head Saitos. I just can't justify the cost of the fuel. Not to mention the cost of cleaning supplies to clean up said glow mess. I kid Kelly a lot cuz he's like a brother to me. The brother from a different mother. But truth be known, If I had a lifetime supply of YS/Saito blend nitro fuel, I would still own at least one ground thumpin', tree shakin' prop blasting Saito.

So will they invent glow fuel smelling coffee for you die-hard glowers?
One can only hope. But I think it would be much easier to go grab a fellow glow flyers gallon jug of the special blend liquid gold, remove cap...breath in deeply, pour a few drops into said coffee cup, stand behind exhaust of running glow engine...again breathing in deeply. Ah! Yer set for the day. Lol

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that you would have a bottle of the high test stashed for such an occasion as this. Lol

Just talking shop here.....

I find it unique and not surprising that gas engines do better in the hobby these days simply because of the displacement available to cost's ratio. The biggest glow engines back in the day and present day are 50cc/60cc. I would be thrilled with a 4cycle YS 120cc alcoholic twin with nitro boost :). Could any present day quality built aerobatic ARF handle it ???
IMAGINE the possibilities.......:too-cool:.

I still have my share Of glow engines that will just not die, but I will tell you that I will put my YS120 with20 %'nitro up, against any 20cc gas engine. But as time goes by it will all be gas.

Woooo eeeeee! Now you’re talking!:fist_pump: Actually, I believe it would be relatively inexpensive for fuel, given a spark ignition with variable timing is now available (no nitro necessary)! Think YS185zero. I would love to have a straight alky plane! Keep going back and forth between the YS185 zero and a DA 35 for a near future scratch pattern plane build. Probably will be a DA just for initial investment reasons...but one can dream!

Well got the motor box rebuilt and everything aligned again. I believe it is better and lighter than before. Still I am going to,have to split the cowl better do this right because AeroWorks does not exist anymore . Changing the plane from a 85 cc set up to a 100cc twin. Bolted the engine to the front and one problem became aware. The exhaust does not fit it runs into the bottom of the motor box, both sides. It looks like I am going to have to make a 1/2 spacer to lower the two exhausts to clear the motor box, not going to be easy. The cowl goes on but without the spark plug caps. Have to make a small clearance hole for the two caps. The first job I will have to do is seal up all the holes in the cowl and cut some new ones for the twin. Will post some pictures when I get a chance.
