Hi @stangflyer how are things good to see you are back with with us missed you. Good hear that 3W will still be around, I new you would have all the details about what was happening. So they will still have 3W engines for the hobby. And parts.
Still looking at radios but was seriously looking into The MZ32 and love everything about it, but when it comes to receivers not so good. Expensive and no power receivers all of them are powered by a single JR plug. This means either multiple receivers and or some sort of power box which I do no not want to do to many parts and jumper wires. Every connection could be a problem and voltage loss. And they only have up to 12 channel. I just might have to go to the dark side and take a long look at a Jeti. It does seem to have all the bases covered and they have come out with a new software package for updates and the likes that seems to be very friendly.

I know a couple guys that use Jeti and they swear by them. If I was starting over from scratch I might go that route. But I have way to many Spektrum receivers in way to many planes.

I am in the same situation have a number of spectrum receivers and to many fail safe receivers. But I think I need to just get over it and slowly change over as build new planes.

Damn I'm hungry
My brain is nothing but dark grey matter now :trance:. Did not realize just how many "variants" of a cooling shroud there is. Some have this others don't. Some look like this others don't. Some have two plug holes others don't.....Sheeesh :confused??::ugh!:.

Well I'm going to make the exhaust and oil cooler now. Don't care if the 38 is too big. It's getting shoved in there somehow :deadhorse:.
Just need it to show up. Who would of thought a cub could be such a PIA o_O. Now I know why "old farts" fly em .

I started out with the DX6i. Then upgraded to the DX8. Then I picked up a JR 11x. I never did like the JR. It was a pita to program compared to the Spektrum radios. So I sold it and bought a first gen DX18 off eBay. I was as new as a used radio could get. I love it. Should have bought one years ago when they were still in production. Hopefully it last a long long time.

I went a similar route, my first radio I cannot remember what it was but from there JR 388, JR 9023, 10x and still to day a 12X. But you are correct while programming my buddies spec DX9 it is a breeze to program compared to the 12x.

The LHS gave me a call this morning my covering came in so pick it up and get to finishing the covering on the 50cc profile. Then start the installation of everything. It could be done within a week or two depending on some of the other parts coming in. Ordered a Hitec servo for the throttle. It is a mini but could not get a HV mini so ordered a small servo regulator for the servo because the rest of the plane will be on 7.4 volts. Also found out that the wing tool is to short will have to redone that . Scratch building it seems that you take 3 steps forward and then you need to take two back.
Started to make all the extensions required for the plane, must say starting to get the hang of making them with the crimp tool. That does take a little practice to get them looking good and fitting properly with 20 gauge wire.

I think all the covering is done and I managed to do the one side with one piece. Will not do that again it will be two pieces next time just to much sweating. Made up 5 new extensions from 20 gauge wire. Got the motor on and the throttle servo in. Everything is fitting together. Just have to make up some carbon rods for the rudder and the the two elevators and then they will be installed. All I need is the voltage regulator from the LHS for the throttle servo and then make up mine to buy another Spectrum receiver or buy a new radio. Getting to the end slowly.
