Ok I get it you get it all pre cut from pilot that must save a lot of work and it must feasible or you would not do it.
Yes, very feasible. I mean, I could spend hours upon hours... cutting up rolls of covering by hand. For this project I would probably spend roughly 40 to 60 dollars for covering. And that in itself is really not bad considering. But all those loooooong hours of measuring, cutting, test fitting, trimming...etc. Especially considering i have sooo much time on my hands. Lol, not! The easiest route? Send Tony about a hundred bucks. He has his people use their templates to cut what ever color you want. Then shipped and a short time later... your precut covering arrives and you can start applying your bad ass scheme. Too easy and cost effective to not go this route.

Left side done and basically the fuse is ready for toys. Stay tuned everyone.

For hundred bucks I would do it in a heartbeat. Great to know I need to start looking at pilot planes never owned one.

Not much done the last couple of days. I wanted to get out and fly this morning. But the danged wind was howlin' too much to change anything. So I figured I would come home and do some more covering. Yeah, that happened. NOT.... I may try to start the wings tonight. Then again... relaxing and going to bed sounds like a really good idea too. Hmm...decision, decisions.

I took the opportunity today to get some covering done on the 330. It has been a while since I had a 3 days off in a row. So this weekend really helped a ton. I did make some progress. Good but not great. Either I am slowing down or losing my touch. I remember being able to cover an entire wing in just a few hours. I actually started with the right wing last night and put about 4 hours into it. Then an all day process to get to the point that I am at now.
First the base white goes down. Not too difficult right? It is just the size that will get you. I used my 48" straight edge as a rest brace to keep the aileron straight while I shrunk the covering. After all the white was down, I started cutting, (by hand) all the green, silver and black stripes that will make up the bottom scheme of the wings. I chose to use four stripes on the main wings to make the scheme more uniform. After cutting all the stripes I did a quick assembly outside to get the right angle on the wing stripes. I want them to be at the same angle as the stabs/elevators. While outside, I decided to weigh the airframe. At present, it comes in at an even 19 pounds. I really can't remember what the big Yak weighed at this point. But I am hoping that when the 330 is complete, it will come in "way" less than the Hangar 9 Sukhoi, (42 lbs.) and the 260, (41 lbs.) Darn sure it will be less than the Big Yaks. (51'ish lbs.)

Time for some coloring right? First one, then two, then three and lastly four stripes. Have to admit, I will be so so sooooo glad when this one is done. Thankfully, it looks as though it will be quite noticeable on the ground and in the air.

I wanted to get going on the top of the wing trim, but have just run out of steam for one day. I think over the next few days I will get the right wing buttoned up and then start of the left.

Got quite a bit done, but still have a lot to do. I did get my paint from Wings West RC so now I can start sanding...sanding...sanding on that darn cowl and canopy. I really don't think it will happen, but I am going to try to get this one done no later than the end of June. I want/need to get that Velox finished up too. Cause there is a certain P-51 awaiting ever so patiently to be built.

More to come later fellas.
