My ultra reliable 106 is not holding low idle. Need to adjust the low needle I suppose so starting here for advice.

Could you elaborate on not hold low idle. Do you mean it hunting around idle, or at idle it dies, or you can not hold a steady idle need more info to comment.

It dies at low idle. I have now dialed my trim and my sub trim all the way up. Almost had it as the 106 was idling super low on the ground but eventually it will die. I will adjust the throttle rod and back of on the trims but I need the idle to be consistent, dead stick landings are not as fun.

Well to have a low idle and I mean low is very difficult with the two stroke engines we have especially on the singles, the twins are are a little better and the four cylinder not a problem. But to achieve what you are asking the only way to do it is I have Switch on the radio that I take the time to set properly a little higher rpm when flying and when I make my final turn for the run way I flip the switch for my low idle and land the plane. It is hard to tune these engines to start well idle low and have strong and quick transition. I am assuming that the engine is tuned and running properly.

I am going to look at the manual on adjusting the low needle. But will have to wait until the weekend.

If the engine ideled fie then all the sudden wont you need to look at everything how much time is on the engine check compresion if ok are all the bolts tight as the one gentleman said may be time for carb rebuild maybe the little screen is starting to clog inside carb have you inspected your tank fuel lines and filter im not sure but does 3w have reed valves and if they do you may need to replace the reeds

Headed to the field tomorrow so will play with the idle a bit. AI rebuilt the carb not too long. This engine runs fine except for low idle so not a carb issue.

My da 85 still ran great but needed a total rebuild and it still idled great so the settings dont just change you need to go down the list and check all try putting a new plug in before your next trip to the field
