LOL yes we do all have "those moments" Paul. Just "Had" to go fly my new jet In between some scattered t-storms. Had a blast watching it zip around the darkened sky with all the lights it has. Even started doing touch and goes with it. I felt like a 12 year old boy again with a new toy :) until it was time to pack up (storm moving back in). It got real gusty and blew my jet off the stand as I was taking it apart. Made me feel like a 2 year old having a tantrum :dancing-poop:. So off to the shop feeling like an 8 year old with glue all over his hands .

EDF jet? That's cool! Nice repair as well.

Thank you. You as well with your pattern ship. Mine however has some "wrinkles" now just like me :ugh:.
I may take some sand paper and filler to the surface and repaint but it really does not look that bad and the important thing is I got the airfoil shape back the way it was.

And yes it's the Avanti S 80mm 6S EDF. I have been flying it with a new brand battery (HRB 5000mah 50C 6S ) and they are doing really well. Looks to be a good less costly choice (155 shipped for two of them on ebay). This plane has a really wide flight envelope. I timed mine in a head wind of 5-10mph and came up with 160fps......about 109mph. With half flaps in it slows to a walk for nose high "Mains" only landings. I do run an Aura 8 in it though for super stability. Loads of fun playing with it!

OUCH that must have hurt. Especially when it just out of reach when you see it hit the ground. Been there and done it.

My back side was to it (was putting left wing panel in back seat) when it happened. Did not see it but heard the crisp "snap" as the wind picked up :ooh?:. Very fortunate to only have the right wing panel damaged. It took the whole brunt of the tip over.

We had a guy at the field flying a T-Rex 550 helicopter when he heard the wind blow his Extreme Flight 60" Edge off the table. When he turned to look he crashed the heli. Not a good day.

Dimes, at least the damage wasn't as bad as when the stand fell over with your 50cc Pilot Edge on it. You have to look on the bright side of these things.;)

Ok another day at the field and not flying because of the wind. So on my way home I had a thought I need something that can fly under these conditions. So hopefully this solution will do the trick or at least let me know if I am going in the right direction. I had built a scratch built plane in 1994 it was a copy of an UltraSport with some changes. Going pull all the radio gear and install the best and fastest servos and very good 3 Axis gyro and set it up with very high gain. Or as high as the plane can tolerate. Will see how will this works.

I can highly recommend the Demon Cortex gyro. Pricey, but works great.

I like the looks of that ! Pretty darn fast too. If those batts are holding up to EDF loads....the pricing was out of this world for that size battery!! How many cycles you have on them so far? Haha...and here I sound like an expert on batteries now...
