Scale Building a Bulldog II

Just got myself updated on your build thread. Sooo….what's the holdup? LOL
Well??? Simply put, life. And the fact I don't want to start half cocked. This being designed and cut as it was I would rather have the cowl making foam part to match up to the front former prior to starting. Everything else will be based on that first former and built over and around the full scale overlay.
This is, and will be, my slowest build ever but I want it done extremely right as this will be my finest competition airframe. Hopefully far exceeding the Eagle.

Here is a shot of getting a little familiar with the parts.

But in all seriousness I can not actually start the build until the Eagle is out of the way, two pieces of PETG is the hold up, as I need the room. Plastic is scheduled for pickup by Friday so by the end of next week it should be done and out of the way. And I should have the cowl plug by then to verify it's fit with the first former. This Bulldog build will take place by using full scale Bulldog pics projected to a screen, sized to the proper measurements, that is what I will have to go by to place the parts throughout the build. So be patient, it is coming.
Like I said, this is a full on, as scale as I can, scale build.

I like 'em "BIG"!
It sounds as though you are planning... or should I say have planned a build as I hope to do on the big "Stang"! Unless my son and I actually get all our irons out of the fire and get all our other projects done so we can do a joint effort on a monster/behemoth/king kong sized B29, the DS Mustang will be my last biggest best built plane. I want it to be right! I dont have the means of using a projector. I would like to use documentation photos though. I'm really looking forward to watching your Bulldog build.

For me building is just as much a joy as flying, sometimes more so. When I start the first thing I have to do is get the spacing for the fuse parts, I'll be using the projector to do this and I will post how I do it. You might see why a projector is an invaluable tool for scale building.

I would like to see how it is done no doubt. I used to really like building. I guess if I had more free time, I would still enjoy it. But I barely have enough time to get a flight or two in now and then. I guess when winter sets in, I will get some build time.

Just for you stang. I have some time so I thought I would get the projector set up and ready. Also a good time for a how I do it.
First pic is paper taped in placed on a good surface, happens to be the door here. Then, using the provided reference measurements of 61.19 I make marks at that distance.
Second pic is of the projector set up with an image somewhat centered. I used my laptop to enhance the distance line as the pencil was not showing up very well.
Third pic, I am using the Eagle for this as I can't post any of the photos I am using, so lets say the given of distance of 61.19" is from the TE of the fin to the former at the front of the cabane, I enlarge the pic until it fits the marks.
Fourth pic is the fuse sized and centered to those marks.
Fifth pic is where I would draw all the lines on the paper that I would need to lay out to build the fuse on the table. I used the LT to add yellow lines for a better visual of how I would mark the paper.

Boy o boy, I went and did it now. I was just thinking of getting some things laid out now that the table is empty. Whilst I was setting all the balsa and ply out I was thinking about the only part that I don't much like in a build, cutting all this lumber on a bandsaw. Sooo, I went and ordered something I have been wanting for some time now. I will wait for it's arrival next week to go any further. See pic.
