I spent yesterday afternoon helping a guy get is 40% Aeroworks Extra 260 ready to fly. I think it's a ready as I can make it. He's taking it to the field today. The only way I can describe this airframe is ROUGH. It's been hacked and cobbled on something fierce, it seems solid but it looks like hell. I guess time will tell how it flies.

The "field of view" is 140 degrees but the video shows best clarity about 90 degrees. It gets a bit fuzzy after 95 degrees.
Here is a video of the same flight but from "pilots view" taken with my new Hero5 session. The video quality on you tube is substandard to the actual video. It's in 4K. Not going to pay them a fee for that .
Saw the take off and the good landing other than all I got was some heavy breathing from an old guy.

I find it difficult to work on planes that people have thrashed on and not taking the time to do it properly. I always end up either walking away and or wanting to strip it down and fix it. It’s hard for me just to do enough to get into the air.

Did some more work on the profile 20 cc Edge. The bottom is done and all the small bulkheads are in and glued the motor bulkhead in as well. The two hard maple motor mounts are spliced into the side plates. Now I have to start the top section and the removable section to get to everything. It is starting to look like a plane again if I say so my self.

So, I have to ask, at what point is a built up profile not a profile anymore? o_O

I do not have that answer. All I can say is this plane was originally I belive 8 inches wide at the cowl before I drilled it in to the ground. After awhile I thought I would give it a try to turn it back into 20cc plane. About profile planes the ones that I have seen are about 3/4 to 1 thick. I build a profile slab once about 3/4 thick did not like it it was not very rigid so built another fuselage 2 3/4 wide much better much stiffer and lighter. That was a 50cc plane I built a while back. So when I started this one I decided to make it 2 1/4 wide. Just wide enough to mount the motor and get all the equipment inside the fuselage, it is very tight. The fuel tank will slipped into the fuselage from the side and be the same width as the fuselage.

I like 'em "BIG"!
I see you all have been busy as usual. Great time of year to be doing some awesome projects. I added one more flyable plane back to the active duty roster this morning. I had been in search for a replacement to the DLE 61 on the front of the Baby Yak. It has been an exhaustive search and really wanted a 3w on the front of the plane. Just didn't want to do all the cutting and re-fitting. I finally ended up purchasing an RCGF 70cc twin. I had heard good things about it and honestly I have been wanting to see what all the hoopla was about. But I was not taking any chances. Just in case, I ordered another Brand New DLE 61 from Supa Tim over at Northwest RC. The 70 and the DLE 61 showed up within days of each other. Last night I fired up the 70 with my Falcon 24x9 on my engine test plane. Respectable and nice running engine. But not near as good as I had hoped. So yeah, The New 61 went back on the SD Yak. Mainly because the front of the Yak was already set for that motor. Should be a quick install. Basically it took me all of about ten minutes to mount the 61. Fired it up for the first time this morning. Out of the box, never touched the needles...with the Pitts Muffler and Falcon 24x9, she twisted up at just shy of 6600 on the ground.

Pretty good really. The second reason, I just have so little time these days to fiddle fart around with the unknown. I sold my last "new" 61 and really regret it. A 150.00 dollar mistake I won't make again soon. (The difference in cost of selling the previous 61 and acquiring another new one) Anyway, the 61 ran like a clock. After the first initial start up, the choke really was un-necessary. "SERIOUSLY". The only time I noticed the power to weight ratio was on a pull out going straight up. Other than that, plenty of juice to get the job done.

Now to get back to Marie. She is wanting me to finish her so she can fly again. She keeps reminding me it has been five long years since she has spread her wings.
