You guy's are starting to make me not like Chief, sounds like one never knows what they'll get or, when or if they'll get it.

McMaster-Carr....for Hysol and a TON of other stuff!!!
McMaster-Carr is awesome, I buy from them all the time. I checked there a few days ago and they had the 9462 Hysol in stock, but I had been told Chief already had the mule loaded and on the way. Since I'm not the one buying the supplies for this one I'm stuck waiting on Chief. The word now is we'll have the Hysol and some other things on Monday.

Since the rudder post is on hold, last night I worked on other things. One thing I did was remove some material in the hinge pockets to increase the travel on one of the elevators. I got it to about 45 now, and it has a little more left in it.

Is the Hysol really worth the expense over using normal epoxies like System 3, not hobby grade? I can see where it would be convenient to just dispense and go without the measuring and mixing.
From what I read on the safety sheet this stuff is water clean up. In your experience is that true?

Is it just me or does the mounting block for tail wheel look flimsy. Just a small block of wood glued to the bottom to the glass does not look like it is going to last. Never worked on a glass fuselage but that would bother me or am I mistaken

I've never really compared it to others. I know it seems to be the choice on composites. Bob Violett has his Aeropoxy that I believe is rebranded Hysol 9462. I've used the Aeropoxy quite a bit on jets, and it always works awesome. I've never checked, but I'm not sure the 9462 is water soluble.

Composites get really strong in small shapes like that, so it should be fine. Plus, the rudder post sits on top of and is glued to that block.

I was able to get the elevator throw to 45 degrees each way from the 22 it started at. That will certainly do for Tony's kind of flying. It can go more, but I would need to lengthen the slots in the elevators and it wouldn't look as clean. Plus, much more and they would hit the vertical stab at full deflection.
