I have plenty of silver solder and 35 years experience of putting it to copper. Did not know i could use actual silver solder on steel. Heck, i even have a torch or 3.
I brazed with coat hangers as a kid and remember very strong results.

I think I’d make up a couple test pieces and try it both ways. Then take a hammer to them and see which one is strongest.

Oh and you’ll need high content silver solder like the Harris 56%.

The gear on the BUSA Cub and Super Cub is silver soldered, similar size tubing. That is why I suggested using it. Cleaning the flux is a real pain however.

I would silver solder rather than braze.


What silver solder please? My plumbing silver solder doesn't work. I see 5% silver on the box. I have silver soldered 10's of 1000s of copper joints with this style solder.
