GP 76 twin gas engine

Love the Tillotson carbs. Hate the mounting on the back of the engine. Biggest and truthfully the "ONLY" reason I have not purchased a red headed 70 twin.

On another note, I spoke with one of GP's vendors today. A friend of mine. The word on the GP 76 is...it's coming. It is definitely coming. Just not entirely certain when. At present, the cranks and cylinders are the hang up. First reports are that it will turn the same size prop as the DA 70. Ok, that is all well and good. But here is the icing on the cake. Same prop as the DA 70, but 1000 rpm more. Yes, 1000 rpm more than a DA 70. Very cool. Hence new size props for the GP76 are now available. So, good possibility I am going to put one on order just as soon as orders are being taken.

I just wish they'd post the specs on it so we can start planning!!

I absolutely agree with you. I can find out from my friend. I would bet that he would know. But if I were to make an educated guess, I bet it will be like the industry standard of The Da 70, eme 70, rcgf 70. What I have noticed is that most of the engine manufacturers are trying to stay consistent with their competitor. That is why you will find a dle 111 and 120 the same as a DA120, rcgf 120, Etc. It seems the only odd ball to the equation is the mighty dub. But then again they are in a class all of their own.

Damn I'm hungry
IMHO I think it will be slightly more powerful than the DA70. Maybe turn a 26" prop vice a 24" or 25". The EME and RCGF 70's are more comparable to a good 60 single IMO. And being I ran 3W during my younger days the 3W 85 B2 I had easily ripped a 26 x 8 wood Menz prop but weighed almost as much as the original DA100. I'm hoping/thinking the GP76 will do the same but much lighter engine.

No word from my friend, but I did dig this info up.

From the sounds of it, the recommended prop range will be in the 25" range. 25x8@7100 rpm. Prop bolt pattern will no doubt match the DA, EME, RCGF 70 twins. I think....hmm, I think I would really like to have one.Depending on width plug to plug...Maybe two. LOL

Talk about dangling the carrot...
I’d really like my first 90” class airframe to have one of these.
94” MXS would be a match made in heaven for that engine.
Although I really like the 92” V2 edge....
But then lasers....
Lions tigers and bears!!! Oh my! The suspense is killing me!

Ok have to ask, I have never seen a GP engine and or see one run. There are none around the fields I fly at. So what makes them so desirable. Something must be pretty good if the Stang would rather have this engine above his beloved Red heads.

All the GP engines I've seen in action make mega power. But they are not the easiest to start and tune.

Mike is 100% accurate. They make very good power. Way more than a DA, less than a 3w. But still very powerful Motors. I believe the biggest problem why they have had issues starting and tuning them, is because they take a little longer to break in than a DA or a dle or like. Plus the carburetion system although a walbro carburetor has needed some work. My understanding is the company has been working on a variety of issues revolving around that. I believe they also have been working on the timing curve which also will affect the tuning and the starting of these engines. It will be interesting to see exactly what GP has done as far as enhancements and advancements. I would still rather have a 3w, however because of the way they are aspirated and the price this is actually an alternative that would please me very much.

Heard it through the grape vine that GP will be introducing a couple of new engines this year.
Particularly a 76cc twin to compete for a home in the newer 92+ inch class airframes. I am hoping all the engine lovers will help shed some tangent evidence of this speculation. I think I would just have to have one for what will probably be my last GS project.
That will be a beast i had the pte72 twin i know there were problems with the fist versions but the v2 were great and if a great company like gp is gona make a twin in that size i will send my deposit today to get one

So I thought I would take a minute to toss out there the information that I got yesterday on the GP76. I finally was able to talk to my friend who is an actual GP dealer. He is asking everyone to "NOT" believe all you may hear or have been told. Yes, some of what has been "leaked" is true. Yes, there is a GP76 coming. Yes, the information I had posted earlier is accurate. (I try very hard to be accurate) However, if anyone says that there is a specific release date, there is not. Also, as it stands...no one really knows for certain what mounting pattern the engine will be. It is evident however to clearly see from the photo of the 76 below the 123 that it will definitely be a four bolt pattern. And knowing the Chinese, they will keep it the same as all our other 50-60-70cc engines. That we will have to wait and see. It is also true of the power output that is initially being reported. Apparently it is literally destroying...(to coin a phrase) all normal 60-70cc props. Hence the reason the 25x8's and 25x10's were ordered up from Falcon. I informed my friend to please keep me updated as I am putting my name on one when they are released. Who knows, if they really are as good as initial findings have proved, I may get another for the Jtec Pitts. If it won't fit? Well, to lose some nose weight and to add some "3Dub" power at an economy price would be enough for me to put some little bumps on the sides of the cowl to accommodate the install.

I'll try to keep you all updated as information comes available. Oh and I just learned today...Did anyone know that GP has done a complete remake of the GP176? I sure didn't. Wow...I must have my head stuck in the sand again. The new revision is a 178 and totally redesigned. Hmmm.... What do you know about that?
