From the sounds of it and this is just my opinion, it kind of sounds like the Gyros are more Hassle and Troublesome than they are worth. Is there really an advantage to them? I can see in a helicopter how they would be a huge benefit.
@stangflyer, Depends on which one you get and what you want it to do. I had a number of the Demon Cortex in smaller airframes, it is extremely easy to set up almost plug and play. The Cortex takes the wind out of the equation nothing more nothing less. I have one on the shelf I could send you and you could see for yourself. Just say "Ok" and it is on it's way.

I appreciate that. But before I say ok, if I put it in one airframe...will they all "NOT" feel the wind? Imagine how awesome hovers would be if the red headed beasts were not affected by the wind!

I better not my friend. I'd probably become dependent on it. Thank you though.

Well Fellas,

The USPS FINALLY decided to deliver the rest of my kit. . . . . . . . :brian-banana: So tell me, how many of you have built one of these?

20190122_112810_resized.jpg

The newspaper in the box is dated 1995, so its at least 23 years old. From what my flying buddy tells me is that this is a FANTASTIC flying plane (non 3D of course). Here are a few more pics.

The first box I received has the fiberglass cowl, landing gear and a few other things in it. I didn't get any pictures of those.

One thing I saw when I opened the box had me rolling in the floor laughing. The top top pieces of wood were marked "elevator" and this is what they are.

20190122_181251_resized.jpg

Yes gentlemen, that's a 1/4" thick slab of balsa for each elevator half. . . . . . .. This is going to be set aside for a future project. I am going to have the plans scanned and I am going to draw them up in AutoCAD. I want to do this for two reasons. First is, I want to change the wing design to a two piece wing with a wing tube and reduce some of the wood thicknesses to save weight'. Secondly, I want to scale it up to 35% so I can cut a kit since my chances of ever finding a 35% Carden Extra 260 kit are slim & none. . . . . . :(.

Oh yeah, the mailman also brought me a much smaller package that actually had me stumped till I opened it. It was the package of extra saw blades that I ordered when I ordered the little saw with the link @stangflyer posted.

These are nice blades. Can't wait to try them out. . . . . :big_yes:

That's awesome David. But I have to admit, I am just a little bit jealous. I loves me some 260 flying. I sure miss Baby. Oh well, maybe one day I will get another huh? Perhaps someone will have a still new in box SD 40%. Stranger things have happened. I just saw three old red box Top Flite kits for sale. Mustang, P40, and I think it was a P47. All a buck and half each, still brand new kits. How old are those dudes? Well, right now I need to focus on a certain Behemoth Stang.
Nice saw blades ya got there. They are so handy, you will probably use them more than any saw you have had.

Hey Rob,
I was lucky when I found this kit and the price was right too, but as fate sometimes does it, I barely missed out on a 77" Weeks Solution X kit for $300 bucks this afternoon. Oh well, you can't win them all. Your Stang is looking AWESOME. Keep up the great work.

Hey Wade,
Thanks Buddy, I'm pretty stoked about this one for sure. Unfortunately, it is probably going to be at least a couple of years before I get to this one. I have a couple of ARF's and some classics to keep me busy for at least that long.

Are you going to build the plane as is or use it draw up a new one and increase the size. Nice kit and glad it showed up for you.

Thanks @Snoopy1,

I am not going to build this plane as is because I do not want to have to deal with a 90" one piece wing. I also want to make the plane lighter. Since a friend of mine is gathering parts to make a CNC foam cutter, I may build foam wings instead of the built up wings. If I go the foam route, it will definitely save me some AutoCAD time. Once I build the plane and i like the way it flies, I will then blow my plans up to 35%. I want to wait on the 35% plane in case I need to make some changes to improve my drawings.
