RC estate question... Anyone have any experience with these kits?
Ikon N'West Models Stinson 108, Taylorcraft
Jack Stafford Aircoupe
Wing MFGR A-26/P-38/P-39

I told the family I'd look over the 50 kits and 40 plans to tell them if there is anything worth selling themselves and for the local rc club (yours truly) to have a private garage sale. Trying to see if there is anything I "need" Lots of cool planes, They are clueless when it comes to prices, and so am I for something like this. I am being nice, because I went to school with the guy in charge of selling these. I told him it's a minority of people who actually build kits anymore and it will be hard to sell.

I'm ready to throw down some bills.... especially for all that balsa.

Well.... I spent five bills. Five boxes of balsa, one box of spruce, box of wire, box of Nelson covering, eight gold-n-rod bags, box of K&S tubes, box of misc hardwood blocks, box of tires, box of miscellaneous hardware, box of covering items, custom wire bender, oh and a dozen kits.... I got home and told my wife I loved her very much. She asked if I brought home more than two airplanes and if I spent over five hundred. Um yea... no... I love you.

I even put them tires to use right away!

I may not be able to go to Toledo, but I feel like I won the lottery. If I was a gold panner, this would be the nugget that got me leaping for joy.

I ended up leaving the ikon kits. I told the family if they really wanted to, they could be patient and sell them for $180-220 each online. Sounds like they could be able to make some money if they are patient and do some more research. Same went with the aerocoupes.

Some club members are going to buy a few things from me later, and I’ll donate a couple kits when the time is right.

Well just got back from Toledo show all I have say it is a bust been going to it since 89 till to day I may have missed a few but not many for the years. But unfortunately it is dying . Only half the building was being used and not many people. Do not think I will be going again. That is real loss to the hobby I think we are in trouble. Fortunately some of the big players were still there, DA, AJ aircraft, Horizon and few others.
The most important thing for me was to see the DFA/JR radio. Well all I can say I have been looking for years for a new radio and I have found it. Looked at the Jeti, Graupner and Futaba while I was there as well, but for me the new JR ticked off all the boxes. They have really moved the goal posts in the basic fundamentals of the radio, and not trying to make it a phone and wifi and all the rest they have concentrated on the basic needs flight control. Give one example if you program the radio in XBus with XBus servos the up date time is 6 milli seconds. And if you have four servos say on one surface the the signal is sent to those four servos simultaneously no other radio does that. Have to say like the radio.

Nice to see the people at DA thinking back at show and remembering looking at all the shiny new engines, now I must admit when I originally got into the hobby it was for the engines just love playing with them and listening to them run. Ok back to business at the DA both I kept looking at the New DA215 twin it just looks great and sure looks impressive and it is based of the DA150 which I have and is the best engine I have ever had the pleasure of owning and playing with. Ok so here is my crazy thought can I mout that 215 beast on my Stick that presently has my 150 and not rip the front off it ?????. And or rip the plane apart. Just the thought of that monster on the front pointing the nose up and giving full throttle, sorry I know I am sick puppy but just that thought is so exhilarating the power and the noise of the engine dragging that plane up to outer space.
