I sure hope it turns out nice!!!!
About ready to start building the tail parts, I have 25 family and friends visiting tomorrow for an Easter Saturday diner, Ham, Lamb, Kolbasi and Miller Lite, don't expect to do much tomorrow other than cook and take care of the honey do list.
Here's the door installedView attachment 109868
Is the door going to be painted or do brushed aluminum finish. Or even better the overlapping circles. That’s fun to do takes forever.

Painted same color as the surrounding area, pretty sure I'm going with the standard yellow/orange Champ scheme.
Ok the obvious question why skin it with aluminum and then paint it, why would you not skin it with plywood and just paint it.

The stabilizer halves are jointed with 1/2" aluminum tubes as seen in the drawing. I'm building the Stabilizer over a 1/8" lite ply spine as the ailerons were built. To get the aluminum tubes onto the edges, a 1/8" lite ply shim was taped between the spruce 3/16" spruce stock, this was chucked in the lathe and turned to tube ID. After each cut, the cut area was taped together and the next cut was made.

Please explain this do not understand the tapping. “After each cut, the cut areawas taped together and the next cut was made.”

The plans show a pull-pull arrangement housed in the rudder, I will go with that arrangement. Brought a 1/3 scale Nicopress tool from Balsa USA at Toledo this year, had used a saltwater crimping tool previously, I think the only difference is the copper couplings.
Pecking away at the stabilizer, the 3/16" spruce is glued to the 1/8" lite ply spine, then the other side gets the spruce. This result in a 1/2" thick stabilizer section, to thick to carve and sand the leading and trailing edges so out came the make shift router table. At this point I'm planning to actuate trim tab thru a pull-pull arrangement so show on the plans, not sure if it will be controlled by the stab trim or separate knob.
With any luck tomorrow I will get the joiner tubes epoxied into place.
