stacking all the lumber I got yesterday when the portable sawmill made its way to my house to mill up the logs I have from the trees I cut down.View attachment 111372 View attachment 111373 View attachment 111374 View attachment 111375 View attachment 111376
If I may make a suggestion. If you leave it like that for a number of years it will no good to you. All the bark needs to removed and the edges cleaned up. Termites will get to the wood when the bark is left on. Actually you need to get the all the edge trimmed. Just a suggestion.

I got this down off the wall the other night so I can fly it Saturday. I haven't flown it in a year and a half.

100 hour service on my Predator 3500 watt generator tonight. Oil change, new spark plug, cleaned the air filter and cleaned the spark arrestor. Purrs like a kitten. Which is good cause it will be running non stop for three days next weekend at the Rolla MO fly-in.

Doing the same to two of mine this coming weekend in preparations for Fall Nall, have to keep them like new for a week of continuous running.

I will look into that. What I have read never seemed like it would be a problem. The stack will still have to be broken down again anyways as I plan to spray all the wood down with a borax and water solution. It wont kill any bugs that are there but it should prevent anymore from coming after it. Also plan to put plastic down under it all and spray the entire area around it down with it.

This is from the last two logs that needed milling yesterday. the shorter pieces used to be one long piece but unfortunately during the first cut some tension was released in the log so the decision was made to cut it in half and then mill the two shorter pieces to be able to get more usable lumber out of it. These pieces by far have some of the best figure to them of all the stuff we milled. Oh the first picture is actually just the figure I found in one of the pieces of sweet gum. Then the last picture is the stack with everything on it. Nice bit of wood to have in my shop and now I just have to wait a year to be able to use it.

Also what helps if put a good coat of any household paint on all the ends it prevents the wood from splitting on the ends. Normally we we do it as soon as the tree is cut. Just any old house paint will work.
