The DRO is very useful, I wish I had it on my lathe. For carriage work I will setup a 1" dial on the the tail stock and use it to move the carriage the desired amount like making parts like engine standoffs the same length.
I see it is a $500 option.
Here is a photo of a Harbor Freight 6" digital caliper mounted on the Z feed on my mill. I fiddled around for a day or so getting this mounted. Sawed the unnecessary fittings off and cut to length, works great. Touch the part, hit the zero and off you go.
The $500 may be well spent, of course it is easy when spending others money!!!

DRO is $500 option on the PM1030?

Finally got around to playing with my little lathe. I cut this rod down some then i was staring at a tap and die kit and decided to thread some.

Scroll saw, sanders, band saws, how did i ever get by without a mini lathe? This little lathe is easy and fun. Was staring at my Byrne's table miter gage pin and realized I could make a replacement in 5 minutes. Was always worried about losing it, I'll just make extras.

Not perfect but close enough.

Yes on slitting saws, found them on eBay. No arbor yet, might make that a lathe project.
