Looking good, the balsa looks good to. The leading edge with squares makes for a nice alignment.
Are you working or are you also quarantined at home.

I decided to self isolate with the baby. With my wife being a nurse in Critical Care life was getting too hectic. Alaska just issued a mandate to hunker down and limit travel. I’ll be home for a month. Can’t work from home...

More elevator work.

Beveling the Stab edge to conform with the airfoil and ribs.

I normally dread sanding. This balsa is top notch. Sands super easy.

Pre fitted laser cut sheets. A tiny bit of prep to glue to top corner on. Note the alignment laser mark.

Instead of glueing the top sheet on I’m going to start on the elevator. These blocks are meant for CA hinges, I’m probably going to use robart hinges instead since I’ll be using a gas engine.

Elevator. Steps are just like the horizontal. No surprises. Note that E-1 rib is the end cap. I messed up and put a whole row in out of order. Luckily I only tacked them in place. So some surgical work with a blade took them out and I corrected the issue.

Nice light ply sandwiched for balsa for the tips.

Got some extra balsa block material in for my robart hinges. Sanded down, trimmed, measured my marks for the centerline for the hinges, and sheeted the elevators and horizontal.

Decided to trim up the bulk of the elevator tips before glueing on. Hopefully that didn’t mess up the alignment.

The ply end cap is an awesome guide to have for trimming.

Beveled the elevator edges. This would have been a bit easier with the counterbalances off, but the ply section in the middle does provide a good reference point.

I used a center finder/marker that came with a kit years ago. It was too small to get to the inboard section, so just marked the center and finished my line.
As far as the taper goes, it’s up to the builder. Manual provides some insight.
