Got two more flights on this baby.

It was chilly, close to freezing, little swirly gusty wind from the glacier froze my fingers!

I need to fine tune the travel limits, the current deflections in maneuvers will stop the plane like an airbrake... kinda scary actually. Crazy tail authority. Other than that, the plane is predictable and fun to fly. Still breaking in the motor.

After four more flights I’m learning how the plane flies. It’s easy to give it too much elevator so I need to learn to tame my thumbs and rates. Each 14-16 min flight has averaged about 425mAh per flight. 14 min of flying is a safe place to stop with reserve if you are doing a lot of higher rpm stuff.

I was flying off some soft mud... I cracked out my wheel pants. I’ll have to take them off and repair them. I do have some spotonrc flywheelz to throw on so maybe this is the perfect time.

I will say this plane is very stable. Which makes me very happy!!

Note the rim of the shim/axel reducer/insert goes outboard if you want to keep the wheel pants on.

If you’re like me you have prop inserts laying around. They are great for shims! Just sand down the one that fits the shaft size until you don’t have anymore slop.

Shim went on the onboard side.

Nut tightened up the the stepped axel. Wheel turns freely with no slop and a tiny bit of friction to wear into.

Wheels have a bunch of water in them... so not very accurate. 3oz more with every thing off.

Flew a couple flights. Did KE mixing. Never tried that before! Rudder to Aileron was about 12, Rudder yo Elevator was about 2.
Top wing was barely rotating to the gear, and coupling to the gear.
It wasn’t as scary as it sounds.
What was scary is that I had a dead stick on my third flight. I’m not exactly sure why. Had enough altitude to go down wind and make a perfect landing.

Didn’t die on the ground, but slight hesitation from idle to WOT. Hmmmm. Guessing it’s getting rich from breaking in.
Spot on RC tires worked great.

I have always done knife edge mixing....for IMAC. Start out doing flat rudder turns, watch what the plane does, keep dailing it in till the rudder does not throw the track off, wing level, no diving or climbing. Once that is done knife edge is a breeze.
