Still working on the left side struts, have the main and the rear strut completed but need to reconfigure the jury strut mount, that work is underway.
Been thinking about trying the DRO on the lathe to make some hub caps, similar to these.

It took a while to figure out how to use the radius function and still learning. Like most things you get from Banggood, it comes with very little to no instructions, but hey where there's a will, there's a way.
I decided on 3/16" high at the center and the OD will be close to 2 1/4". I had previous bought 2 1/2" x 1/2" aluminum discs from McMaster Carr for this purpose. The math works out to a 3.875" radius. I was unable to follow the instruction and achieve the desired the result, after several hours I finally came up with a set of inputs that worked.
The first and second photos are during the cutting process, there was a total on 63 steps from the center to the OD on the 2 1/2" disc. The tool was advanced out .020" on each step and moved into the disc as prescribed by the DRO. The third photo is after hitting the cut face with emery cloth while still in the lathe. The final photo after wet sanding with 150, 200, 320, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 and some headlight polish. I need to determine how these will be mounted to the DuBro 5 1/2" wheels. But at least I know I can make them.

Reviewed the service manual and found that one 10-24 fillister head screw holds the cap in place. Designed a mount similar to the full scale. Found two 2-56 fillister head screws in the 2-56 screw drawer, I'm sure these came from a Rocket City ball link. I really do miss the Rocket City line of hardware, several have tried to copy it, none have succeeded.
Back to work. Removed the excess stock and cut the cap to final size to fit inside the wheel rim, drilled and counter bored the center hole for fillister head screw. Then turned the adapter to shape, the adapter is held onto the wheel with 4-40 socket head screws. I used the bolt circle function on the mill DRO to drill the holes, took a little more time but now I know how to use the function. Once the holes were drilled went back and used the function to counter bore for the 4-40 screw with a 3/16" end mill.
The final step was shining the surface with Jewelers rouge, polished up the Tru Turn Cub hub while I was at it.

Been working on the aileron hinging, once this is completed I hope to sand the wings and cover with Stits fabric. Will post a photo or two later.
On the flip side I lost the Cessna float plane on the maiden flight due to faulty plug on the switch. I had bought several sets of knockoff Deans plugs at Toledo many years ago, I thought I had got rid of them, I guess I was wrong. After a half dozen laps around the Acme Lake, got a telemetry lost alarm and the plane spiraled into the the ground across the lake. After impact received a telemetry recovered alert. Spent two days in the back yard trying to determined the cause, never would have guessed a Deans Ultra plug. When I was about ready to give up happened to bump the plug and got the alarm. The knockoff male plug has a satin finished spring while the genuine plugs are polished shinny. I can plug it in and work fine and wiggle a little and loose continuity. I'm petty sure the knockoff female plugs work fine, the problem lies in the male end.
