Ok this is my experience with crow on another plane but the out come was not good and will never play with crow again. First is if crow is activated up the ailerons become almost useless and you lose all the lift of the wing tip. Two things happen not much control left and loosing the lift at the wing tip makes for a great wing tip stall, and when it happens and crow is still on it will never recover. Crow is only great if you are in a dive to slow it down works great. Second the only way I did use crow afterwards is on a push button. Be very careful with crow it can cost you your plane and if you do play with it do it at least two mistakes high.

Exactly right. I’m only using crow for a steep descent to landing, and it works great!! Think of it as a big air brake.
Mixing with the throttle allows me to correct the descent without reaching for a button.
Throttle comes up, crow starts retracting. By 50% throttle, crow is fully retracted and ailerons work like normal.

Interesting mix. never thought about doing it like that and it makes sense. I've always taught myself to put planes into a slip to slow down at high altitude, so I just revert to that instead of messing with crow. It gets confusing for me. HA! It's strange not having a normal flare and rollout with crow, and your window to do just that is small - so mixing to the throttle makes sense. Thanks for the idea.

This is how Flex Innovations mixes crow on their planes. I downloaded the extreme Cessna 170 setup and tweaked it for a couple of my planes. On the Ultra Stick I mixed in the twin rudders to kick opposite directions for additional drag, but I've yet to deploy them. It's a neat way to mix crow, it sucks right in with blips of throttle.

Just found out Horizon Hobby honored the sale price on my kit even though it was purchased the week prior to the promotion. That made my day! They are refunding the difference to my card. (which will be spent on more stuff from Horizon);)

That’s AWESOME!! Glad to hear yet another example of excellent customer service!

Great avatar by the way. Please take a minute and post the larger photo on the avatar thread - https://www.giantscalenews.com/threads/avatar-update.10914/

I wanted to share with you guys my success today modifying the Xcub gear. I absolutely hated these gear when I first got them! They are WAY to stiff and unforgiving when left stock. So after chopping and drilling the lower tubes yesterday to make the gear sit up a little taller

I finally did this mod with the tube length shortened only. I feel like my springs are broken in and flex quite well.

I drilled another hole 6-7mm inboard from the other hole on center. I gained just over 1/2” of Prop ground clearance.I am VERY pleased.

On another note I ordered a new prop since mine was missing 1/2” off each side. Got a message and said they were out of stock, but had painted props. I said send me a silver with white tips. Balance was a bit off and there was a lot of paint lumped up near the hub to remove. Just keep that in mind when buying one.

Cleaned up, and a little bevel so it doesn’t hit the other arm.

NICE, yeah i'd say aside from doing the bungee mod as well to the gear, it was the next best mod I did to make this plane more usable and scale-like.

Cheers!

Regarding the springs.. as I was dumb-a$$ enough to listen to an advise and remove the OEM springs, I struggle with the "home made" springs wear out fast.. Need to find some new. I can find the one I cut away back.. could anyone measure the springs:

Need minimum the following measurements: L0, d, De F0

Highly grateful if anyone could find these for me..
