Scale RCM 1/3 Scale Champ Build

TonyHallo

150cc
My wife has given the go ahead for full bore work on the Champ, worked 3 months on the house, I have 3 months on the Champ.
I plan to finish covering the left side stab and elevator, prepair the landing gear, cowl, and other aluminum parts for paint, paint those pieces, assemble and do a balance check before finishing the fuselage. This will be weather dependent as by garage is too cold for paint work right now. I need to order stencils from Aero Graphics http://www.aerographics.com/ for the Aeronca logo on the tail and N numbers on the tail. At this point I plan to mask the N numbers on the wings.

Got the left side stab and elevator covered with fabric today. Began tape on the stab but want to get the trim tab details worked out before taping the elevator. Cut a reinforcement for the top of the elevator out of 1/64" plywood. Preshrunk the fabric on a 1x2 wood frame. I took the fabric up to 275 F on the frame then cut reinforcement patches.

Put the stabs back on the plane this morning, all is well. Also switched the Sullivan clevises out for Robart clevises, they are shorter and allow the crimp to remain outside of fabric through the entire travel range. Made brass bearings and washers to prevent the threads from running on the aluminum horn. The screws will be replaced with hex head bolts on final assembly.

Ok when this all done and setup on the trim tab can you then trim the tab with an additional servo while you are flying.

The trim tab has a separate servo. Connected via a 3 position switch, down position servo is centered and does not move, center position input is the elevator trim, moves opposite the trim input, up trim deflect tab down and visa versa, up position the trim operates like a boost tab, up elevator deflects the tab down and visa versa.
Not sure how I will use it after test flying, another we shall see.
