2015 Basic Written Call Sheet

Where do you live?  Maybe someone here will know a club close to you that is a bit more active.  Having someone to fly with will make the learning process a lot easier and you will improve a lot faster because it is hard to correct mistakes you don't know your making if you are flying on your own.  Even if you don't make it to some of the contests in your area, still learning the sequences will make you a better pilot and you will be amazed how you can learn.

As far as learning the sequence, taking the first couple maneuvers at a time has always worked well for me but another item that is very useful is a stick airplane/practice airplane so you can go through the maneuvers while reading them and be able to visualize them at the same time.  It will help you visualize the orientation that the airplane should be in during the maneuver and you can all determine which way may be best for you to roll or do your maneuvers.  If you don't have a stick plane a cell phone can come in handy when in a jam, lol.

The caller can be involved as much or as little as you desire. Some will make sure the judges are ready and call "in the box" for you as well as calling each maneuver to the detail level you need. In the known rounds I generally have the caller give me the basic figure with no details on included rolls or snaps because I end getting distracted. In the unknown rounds I need details. For example: Known round - Hammer. Unknown round - Hammer, half roll on up line, 2 of 4 on the down line. I like the caller to give me the next figure as I am just exiting the previous maneuver. If you are fortunate enough to have the same caller every time, they will get used to what the you need and when.
