The fire: The Triple Tree staff knows who he is, and they have dealt with the situation, and will probably remain discreet and classy. The public doesn't need to know.
IF the reward had to be paid, it would have come out of the 3D Bath house remodel/expansion. I understand the young man fessed up to it, and hopefully the TT funds will not have to be depleted to pay a reward.

The deliberate crash is a shame: besides the safety issue at a public event (the largest of its kind), it is unjustifiable to deliberately destroy a plane in perfect working order, right in front of a group of spectators containing probably no less than a dozen people who would love to have that airframe. If you don't like an airframe, give it a way instead of destroying it!!!

Comletly agree with that last statement. Give it away instead of destroying it. I have seen so many YouTube videos and seen it once in person where a pilot dorks the plane in. Damage is not that bad but they don't like to repair things so they go out to the runway and stomp the model to pieces. Just kinda breaks my heart when I look at it and say I may have paid you for the plane if you didn't want it anymore.

Absolutely! As a guy that watches his money like I do, I can't imagine crashing one on purpose. Even if I hated that plane, it has value. Not all of us have an unlimited budget.

I have to say I have a current airframe that I have to repair all the time, I am replacing it and I had already planed to fly It like I wouldn't normally and catch it on video, Not in an attempt to crash it but If that was the end result I wanted it on tape, I basically wanted to try a few things that I have been afraid to do with more expensive planes, and in front of one or two others not a few 100, I herd a local guy to us talking friday night and his friend drove to Nall to try to get started in a 30% plane but couldn't find any thing that he could budget at the time so, I offered him a great deal on the airframe, Mind you it is fine for scale acrobatics and good fun. I will get more out of this exp if I get to see him fly it. I also gave an old 50cc yak away last summer that I was not flying and this is how we keep the hobby alive, Pay It Forward I'm not at all rich and I spend money I make on the side to do this hobby, I hope the actions of a few dont mess up the fun for us all.

@emtp275 we all at one point try to stress a models limits to see if it is a beast or a bag. Hell I purposely flew that racer cat 60 to its destruction knowing that it had wing issues from the factory after watching you tube vids. And guys pile driving beaters is not uncommon but most the time it is done in the midst of buddies and not made to be a public statement. If it were me at NALL and I did such a thing (not talking fire) I would have been chastised, possibly beaten, and thrown out the gate for good.

The plane that was deliberately crashed, almost took out Justin's MXSR on Thursday afternoon. Don't know what the guy was doing, but he smacked the ground hard, which broke the tail. When he landed, the tail came off, so I wouldn't really say that it was a good airplane anymore.
I suspect that some guys got together and did a "half ass" repair, and told Joe to go tear the wings off. He did.

From what I understand..... Mr, Pat asked the pilot in the "crashed airplane situation" , not to return to the "Nall"..... If that is the case, I am sure there is plenty more to the story, than just a few attendees, and Mr. Pat having there panties all bunched up.

Yea, like I said i am not in full knowledge of that part of it, but I have heard that no less than MANY people flew the crashed/crashing plane. Anyway.. just saying... maybe this one needs to cool down? I'll keep an eyeball on it.
:D

Sleepy,

Watching that plane come straight down at least 10 times at full power then yank hard up. There were three others with me that saw it in disbelief. What killed me is that there were two individuals from the AMA that saw the on goings and did NOTHING! Yes I have one of their names. It was unsafe that SOMEONE did this.

Did I mention that he met my plane head on twice after calling landing? Oh, yes I did. He wasn't landing either, just being an azz.
As to Mr.H asking him not to return, I can agree to that.
Hey, flying4fun, I can not answer for Gene Lavine or Mr. Hartness, but I don't wear panties.
