The 'What did you do in your workshop tonight?' thread

This post is what the Postman didn't bring. I learned last week that Robart is ceasing the retract and landing gear operation. I'm surprised to see only one post about this . I guess no one is building these days? I sent them and email and ordered 8 torque links and clevis pins for the Robo...

Here are some photos of the trim tab cable exit. Maybe you can cover the exit with the material you are using.

NO I would not use CA. Are you going to cover the exit with fabric? Do you need to fill the weave on the product you are using? I would use a flexible glue or canopy cement.

The SS streamline tube arrived from Toni Clark, took about two weeks from Germany. It is slightly larger than the K&S aluminum tube. The aluminum tubes bend very easy, the tube on the bottom has a crease in it. Got enough tube to replace the jury struts on the Super Cub as well. I like it!

Scale 112” - Taylorcraft by HeyLuc & Snoopy.

I watched this video recently on fitting windshields. The author kind of used your idea of fitting the windshield from posts to post then adding on the upper section. I experienced the same issue he had where you can make a perfect template but the PETG just doesn't bend like the template...

Hardened the leaves with the acetylene torch, heat up to cherry red then quench in water, then temper the leaves to 500F in the kitchen oven for 2 hours. The leaves came out nice and blue. The original had four leaves, one was eliminated and the spring action seems good. Started looking around...

Piper simply calls it windshield attachment strip. I made it by laying fiberglass in the area and final sanded to shape. On the Balsa USA Super Cub, the attachment strip is formed into the windshield plastic, nice touch.

While working on the tailwheel decided to replace the spring as well. The original was made from the plans however the spring was too stiff, no spring action at all. The original springs were made from 3/32" thick 1095 steel, the new spring will be 1/16" thick 1095. The spring will need heat...

Had to break out the arc welder and acetylene torch to form the new yoke. It took two different bending bucks to finish. After a little drilling, milling, filing and silver brazing it is starting to look better. Still need to add the control horns.
