    Engine choice?

I have owned two EME 55's with autostarts and two EME 70's. After 2 years, one of my 70's needs bearings. It is the one that has been run more and has been run harder. We followed the instructions for oil. The bearings are definitely a weak point on that brand. However, the electric starters...

I'm in Oregon. Would definitely be interested.

Thank you, gents. I'm going to build a Hostetler Super Decathlon next. Simple airplane, one engine, no retracts or flaps... Just need to build something that doesn't make me hate building!

I've decided to set this project aside for now. I'm not having any fun building anymore, and this is supposed to be fun. When nothing lines up correctly and after so many hours it still looks very questionable, it's time to take a break. I'll have to start all over on the fuse if I decide to try...

It can be done. It's just one more thing...

I did some planking around the nose. It turned out okay. I could have done better I think. While I was removing the plans from the bench tonight, I placed the fuse in its foam stand on the floor. My son pointed out that there's a significant lean to the left for all of the tail formers. It...

Working on making the structure strong and sheeting where I can. Part of the fuse strength will be from some support bracing and also adding a floor to the fuselage. I do have to leave some of it open for wing, stab, and fin installation.

As you can see, progress continues. Some of the formers are too narrow, so the stringers end up outside the notches (who knew it would be good to have the notches NOT line up so I can glue the stringers to the edge of the bad formers?). And, of course, the stringers don't always go in a...

I'm determined to be more positive about it from this point on. It will be a significant accomplishment to take something so messed up and make it into a flying machine.

Thank you. I'll keep at it until I can't do it anymore!

Thank you very much. To be honest, I'm not taking as many pictures because it's embarrassing how bad it looks. I'm a perfectionist when I work on a project, so this one is absolutely killing me.

Thank you. It is actually quite hideous, but it is a work in progress. So many pieces don't fit correctly. I am still going to do my best to make it an airworthy project, but I have to admit that while I was on vacation I actually considered scrapping the whole project and moving on to something...

I will continue posting here. I feel like casting the net out for advice and input in two forums is worth the extra effort. I always end up getting a useful piece of advice that makes all the difference.

I'm on vacation right now but will be continuing on with the build this coming week. I'm trying to be optimistic despite the challenges from the plans and the bad experience with the laser cutting. My 12 year old keeps giving me pep talks to keep my attitude from slipping!

I started them at the same time. I had to upload to this thread from a computer because it said the file size was too large. I decided to continue over at FG. Maybe the issue is resolved now. Moving forward...

I chose FG because uploading photos through GSN kept giving me errors due to the files being too large when uploading through my phone. I'll try again. Or, maybe I'll just head back to Siberia. But whatever.

I'm leaning toward two 40cc twins. They should be plenty. Now, just so you know, the thread has been moved over to FG and some progress has been made over there...

I'm going to start over from scratch and make my own parts. I'm also going to just manage one build thread. Since FG supports Tapatalk, which makes uploading photos much easier, I am going that route. Please look me up on FG. Should be easy to find this build over there...
