IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Dammit Primo, now you've got me seriously considering another Carden Pro build! LOL. After all, I NEED a backup plane, right?

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Keep Savox in mind. I got 6 of the 500 oz./in. servos for $65 ea. on black Friday a couple of years ago and they have worked flawlessly. They won't work on the rudder though because they are too tall.

Probably an even better idea to keep the weight down!

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Build looks great so far! If you haven't glassed the canopy hatch yet, I recommend you use at least 3/4 ounce cloth. I used 1/2 ounce and it is starting to crack where the canopy meets the wood. Also, start with one degree of down thrust. We have trimmed 3 planes now and all needed it to...

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

Thanks. We had a great time. I built the plane at zero incidence and thrust, but added about 3/4 degree of down thrust and drooped the ailerons slightly and re-trimmed. I like the way it flies better now so would probably add 1/2 degree of positive to the wing and maybe 1/4 to the stab If I had...

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

I like that idea on the fuselage to prevent crushing the balsa...wish I had thought of that beforehand, lol. What did you set your wing and stab incidence to? Down thrust on the motor?

What kind of working time does the West Systems give you?

IMAC Carden Pro 124 Build, My Dream Plane

I have heard of great results using West Systems epoxy. If you vacuum bag with it, you can lay a small piece (maybe 6" x 12") of light 1/2 oz. fiberglass cloth over the wing tube socket area to help spread that load over a larger portion of the wing skin resulting in a very strong wing with...

This has been the case on all of the 222's I have heard about. That includes 3 that I have had direct contact with and at least 4 that I have first hand accounts by their owners. Yes, there are several other items that need to be addressed on this engine. 1. spark plugs - I know they claim...

    Pilot RC 42% Edge 540.

It's not that difficult to make the Edge stall/spin acceptably for IMAC. There are a couple of common mistakes that folks make in set up that are easily fixed. First - too much elevator. You should set the elevator to 10-12 degrees up and down, which is plenty for precision flight. Second -...

    Pilot RC 42% Edge 540.

Well I took it out for the maiden yesterday and sure enough, there was a CG marking on one of the motor box sides about an inch or so in front of the wing tube. My balance was right on the money and man is this a great flying plane! Rock solid harriers and just a super light flyer. Love...

    Pilot RC 42% Edge 540.

Thank you for the link. If the rear of the wing tube is correct, I am going to be WAY nose heavy. I will look for markings inside the fuse.
