Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Here's the reply I got from ZTW....(no, you can't make this stuff up *google translate at work*) "Yes ,for the HV version , we added the capacitors . because some of customers feedback that the HV version is easy to be burned when connector the battery ."

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

The 155A is SBEC, the 150A is OPTO. The new 120A firmware we just got from them will work for the 150A. Garret

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hey, everyone -- update: ZTW has sent us 2x firmware files for the Gecko 120A OPTO HV. One of the files is an earlier version from when the ESCs were first released; the second is a brand new version which they have changed to match the new SBEC firmware they sent earlier in the week. We need...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Bummer, I wish you still had it as it would make a good comparison. ZTW claims they fixed the problem, so we're just waiting on the word from some folks we sent the firmware to for testing...then hopefully they can move onto the HV opto firmware. Garret

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hmmm...that's very interesting and a bit of info no one has relayed to me until now. I will forward this to ZTW and see what they have to say. Yes, we sent them a 4315-300. The issue presented itself when run on 6s with a 125A but not on 8s with a 120A OPTO. Garret

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

OK, everyone, ZTW says they have made a change to the code and have tested it extensively without issue with the motor we sent them. So, we are once again looking for someone to test this firmware out...the version they sent is for the SBEC (not OPTO yet)...so, we need someone with a 85A, 125A...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Yeah, I don't know what changed. Unfortunately, the dealers are caught in the middle because we want to fix it, but it has to come from the manufacturer. And, you have no idea what a challenge it is dealing with these Chinese suppliers! It has taken me the better part of two months just to...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Yeah, unfortunately we found out the hard way that the firmware is different between the SBEC and HV OPTO versions. But... **UPDATE** After not being able to find the issue running a 120A HV OPTO with the Motrolfly 4315 motor we sent ZTW, we asked them to try it with a 125A ESC on 6s, and...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hey, guys -- so, we need your help here! Over a month ago, we sent ZTW a Motrolfly 4315-300 motor with instructions to use it on 8s with a HV Gecko to find a fix for the throttle issue everyone has been experiencing. Well, they have been extensively testing since receiving it and have not found...

ZTW gecko series now available at 3drcparts.com

Yep, we sent a Motrolfly 8s motor to ZTW several weeks ago for them to use for testing and analysis to determine what in the firmware is causing the timing issue. The last report I heard is that they are still working on it. As soon as they release an update, we will post the download and...

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hey, guys -- just a quick update. I spoke with ZTW tonight and they are finishing up the firmware update which will hopefully be sent to us soon. We'll probably have Gary or some other guinea pigs :) test it first then release it to everyone once we know everything is good. Garret

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hey, everyone -- sorry for the slow reply on this. ZTW and most of our other suppliers have been gone for the last week attending a trade show in China. We just received a reply from ZTW. We sent them the video Enterprise posted earlier in the thread and they wrote back with this reply:

Help With Motor Timing and Poor Throttle Response (Gecko 120HV)

Hey, everyone -- I just wanted to chime in and let you guys know I have contacted ZTW about this issue. I'm hopeful they can identify the problem and release a firmware update to fix it. I will report back when I find out more from them. In the meantime, we'd be willing to take back 120A OPTOS...

The EXTRA 300 EXT Build Thread

Hi, AKFreak -- The way you connect the OPTO and SBEC ESCs to the card is a bit different. On the SBEC versions, you simply connect the ESC to the card and plug in the battery to the ESC connection. On the OPTO models, you have to connect a separate 5-12v battery to the power port on the side...

Say hello to our new little friend

I don't yet, unfortunately. I did run across this thread where someone is running one in an AW 50cc Extra. He said it "flies amazing," pulling about 100A and 4400W with "amazing vertical." http://www.GiantScaleNews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67561

Say hello to our new little friend

We got a new motor in at the shop, and just thought I'd share because it's pretty cool! This is the Suppo 7035/8. Rated for 4500 max watts and spins a 26" prop on 10s or 24" on 12s. This beast is beautifully anodized and has more wire in it than a new york city switchboard. The pictures don't do...
