New to GSN!
Will post up some pics of the assembly of the Extreme Flight 83 inch MXS, who else has one ? I'll be going with a DA-35 still trying to decide muffler or pipes....

Saw this guy at Joe Nall. Looks killer. But I mean it's an EF, it's simply can't be anything less than awesome!

I am building one right now. Hope to have it finished this weekend. I am going to use a VVRC 40 twin which fits perfect and nice to see two sets of fins looking in the cowl holes. I bought some Savox 1270's servos before the plane came in so I could have them for upgrades and I am glad I did because these control surfaces are huge.

Glad to see you start a thread I was just about to start a mini build thread but saw this.

Here are some pictures of Chris Hinson's prototype at SEFF that got me hooked.

Layout before the build. Besides the wing and stab bags they included a canopy cover which will be great for our Texas sun. The provided cockpit floor is a super lightweight foam board. If you have seen my 60" Laser thread on RCG you will see that we did a highly detailed photo that we plan on doing with EFIS gear for this

The elevator is "huge" and thus the manuals minimum recommended servo of 300 oz. I am using Savox 1270's all around so should be no problem. I am sure will live up to the pitch authority that the MXS is known for. Extreme Flight adding some nice features and improvements in this plane. One I like is this neat little servo lead lock to keep the aileron servos in place. The anti rotation pins are aluminum which is nice too for the loads we will be throwing at this plane. All cutouts for servos and leads are done for you. The only ones you have to do are for the control horn plates. I like dry fitting and putting tape around everything instead of the suggested pen which always seems to leave it's mark behind. Trim back from there and the cool part is when you wipe off the excess epoxy any film goes on the tape not the covering and pulls right off.

The firewall is marked for a DLE-35 so I used the provided template with my VVRC 40 twin and it fit perfect. The standoffs provide with the VVRC 40 are a perfect length. It is my understanding from those building using a DA-35 that the provided standoffs also are a perfect length. If you have not heard, Chris's shakedown model had a DA-50 and Jeff Williams is also flying one with a DA-50. I did a dry fit with the motor and cowl to see how it looks and am so happy to be able to see the twin cylinders in the large cowl inlets.

The cylinders seem to sit back some so I know I wanted to make some baffles. My first thought was to draw it up in CAD and make a set with our Objet RP machine but the other day I was in our fridge and the last visit with the grandkids they left these Little Turtles Yogurts behind so I had a little snack and started cutting away. The bottom of the cup right at the green line is exactly the diameter needed to fit the recess in the back of the cowl. There is a nice little well formed from the inlet return lip. Because the cylinder fins are all not in the air flow I next cut a taper from the green line back so this baffle now angles in and directs flow to all of the fins. I will post more shots when I get that finished but it is easy, fits perfect and heck tasted pretty good too.

Here is the aft inside view and the provided servo tube is more than that. It is carbon and at least 3/4" diameter so it will really strengthen the fuse for all those Crankshafts and Tumbles I love to do. I like to look of the textured paint on the motor box which really makes the polished aluminum pop out. The inside of the fuse I just fuel-proofed with polyurethane.
