A small bit more of history was recently added to the legendary aviation name “Sikorsky” on September 9, 2016 when Sal Calvagna for the first time test flew his amazing 16-foot-span Sikorsky Illya Muroments WW1 bomber. Sal spent 16 month designing and building this one-of-a-kind scale aircraft and it truly is a flying museum-piece.

Sal waited for the end of the day on Friday to test hop his scale bomber and that hop turned out to be a successful flight the entire length of the Old Rhinebeck Aerodromes grass runway!

Congratulations Sal for an amazing accomplishment! Igor would certainly would be proud! Sal also won the coveted “Spirit of Rhinebeck” award for his amazing aircraft.
