Last year, I was fortunate enough to compete at Top Gun in Lakeland, Florida with my 1/3-scale Fokker Triplane. Unfortunately, during one of my flights, I suffered a dead-stick and had to bring the big triplane down into the rough to the south of the main runway.
When the model landed, I found a rather large depression the triplane rolled through. The left axle bent up and the bungee cords broke. This caused the axle ends to travel upward too much and the top of the sub-wing was badly cracked and blown out. Here’s how I repaired my big triplane’s sub-wing.
