Joe Nall 2014!!!!

Discussion in 'Events, Contests, Swap Meets' started by dskuro95, Jan 12, 2014.

  1. Well who is attending? I know I will be along with my dad and at least one of the three brothers. Mom depends on the two of the other brothers.

Here is some information I grabbed from the site. I wish I lived closer but I'm still hoping I can some how swing it! All of you that live with in an 18 hour drive should do it!

    When: May 9th, 2014 to May 17th!!!

Yes, it’s cold outside and the holidays are just behind us BUT May will be here before you know it so it’s time to start making plans to attend Joe Nall 2014! The Triple Tree staff and volunteers have been very busy during the fall and winter making sure that this year’s Nall will be better than ever. As hard as it is to believe, Triple Tree is going to be more beautiful and the event more exciting than ever before. So, let’s give you a peek at what’s in store for you when you arrive.

First, for all of you campers, Mr. Pat has been busy on his heavy equipment! There are acres of new shaded campsites available along the Enoree River. These sites are incredibly beautiful and are sure to be the new favorites. The brush has been cleared and the area smoothed and grass planted. The entire area looks and feels like a beautiful park! Bets are that you’re going to have to be an early arriver to get one of these choice spots.

Next, there’s a new pond at Triple Tree! The lake areas are always favorite locations and now there’s yet another one. The area behind the lower bathhouse has been transformed from a inconveniently located drainage ditch into a magnificent pond that even has an island in the center! Joey and Matt have a couple of other surprises for you but we’ll wait just a bit to reveal those. Suffice it to say that you need to bring your cameras ‘cause you’ll have to go to Paris to get another chance for this photo op!

The volunteer crew has been meeting regularly to get even more organized so that your Joe Nall experience will be smooth and enjoyable. As good as its been in the past, we believe that the home of Fun, Fellowship and Hospitality can be even better! Every effort will be made to ensure that you’ll have the time of your life.

There’s a lot of excitement building from the vendors also. Expect more vendors and bigger displays. They, like you, realize that the Joe Nall is THE RC event of the year and they are excited to be able to bring their latest offerings for you to review and purchase.

We’re expecting huge international participation this year. All indications are that there will be some really exciting noon shows.

The flight lines are going to be in spectacular shape. The grass along the main and 3D flight line has really matured and a Spring application of tons of fertilizer will ensure an unparalleled flying experience. The control line circles have been planted with the fine Bermuda and are looking great also!

We can’t leave out the food! Suffice it to say that there will be great food available every day but DON’T miss the world famous Triple Tree BBQ. Sign up early as it usually sells out.

So, we’re getting ready! You should too! Please, don’t miss this great event. Preregistration is open. All of us here at Triple Tree are excited and looking forward to seeing thousands of our old friends and making many new friends too at Joe Nall 2014!
  3. I plan on being there again this year. I will be in the National Balsa booth with my foamies. They are up near the main flight line but we always swing down to see our 3D buddies. Last year was my first year and it's definitely worth the drive, even from Oregon! So if you see "Santa" wandering the crowd, give me a shout and say hi!

Mapquest says 42 hrs. 36 min of non-stop driving and gas of $1500 one way. Hmmmm, don't think that will be an option for me.

And ya coreman you do look like Santa! Do you do the Santa thing at Christmas?

I am going for sure. I took the vacation week. So far I have talked my dad into bringing his Class A Winnebago for quarters, but I am shopping for my own. Getting a new cargo trailer this spring so I will bring whatever fits. I did learn from the FLI that there is such a thing as bringing too many planes as keeping up with all of them is too much work.

I will try to settle on 3-4 giant scales, 1 electric for the e-line (like my ultrastick 25), and 1-2 for the float line when the 3D line is just too crazy. I am not visiting the Control Line area, and I don't really have anything for the main line unless I feel like flying the EF 104 at 100mph in a circle just because I can.

  6. just shy of 1000 miles one way for me and I'm on the east coast but that and SEFF (1150 miles one way) are worth the trip. I'll meet you half way at Watts over Owatonna (Minnesota). 1300 miles one way for me. I met Ashleigh (rcgirl<some number>) there last year. VERY talented. And then I do WRAM and NEAT as well

But coreman you're retired! LOL. Well let's see mapquest says 29 hours of driving (1800 miles one way) and $1000 in gas one way.... That's not gonna happen. Sorry man. I am hopeful Nall will be in my 2015 future.

You could fly and then bum planes off others. I went last year for 3 days just to watch. Flew into Charlotte, NC and rented a car.

It would be 1,996 mi, 29 hours
In current traffic: 30 hours for me how did you calculate gas?
