What a great event at the 114th in Grapevine. Friday's weather was near perfect, and the flying was constant and awesome. Saturdays wind made it a little more challenging, but there were still planes flying throughout the day. The 92" Edge made it's public flying debut, and the 91" Yak was introduced. 3DHS had a HUGE presence at the show, both in sheer number of aircraft flying, and also in blue shirts; Ben, Noll, Joe, Josh, Wamsy and Bivens were all there flying, coaching, and helping others build, fly, and enjoy their airplanes. What a great way to kick off the FLI season!

I brought my new 87" Extra 300 SHP with me, to get some expert help on the engine setup. Jim Smith and John Jennings spent some time helping me get her running great. Also, Joe was gracious enough to do the maiden!

After Joe and I flew the Extra, I wanted to spread the fun around, so I handed the sticks to Ben. After a few minutes of fun, he does a beautiful save at the end when my DLE-55RA quits on him... her way of saying she needed a little more rich on the low needle.

My 87" wasn't the only one flying though. Here is Ohio Av8tor's:

And of course, RobJ's sweet running DLE55 powered 87:

The 87's were such a hit, our own Team 3DRCF pilot Brian Strachan bought one, and had some expert help getting her assembled in 6 hours! Purchase to Maiden in one long afternoon!

Joe took the little 126" Slick out for a spin:

Wamsy and Joe put on a demo of the 42" Slicks during high afternoon winds... It was some extreme flying, followed by Wamsy's airplane having a "firm landing" and then Joe's tail touch landing on top of Wamsy's plane.
