Day 1 of the Mid-America FLI is finally here! The dawn brought clear skies, a slight breeze, and a great day for hucking! A handful of us arrived last night and camped at the field. This morning RobJ started us off with a flight on his 3DHS 104" Extra and PB is putting together one of his planes. There is gonna be a whole lot of huckin' going on today; what are you waiting for? Cmon, get here and join the fun!

Here are some pics of the early morning calm...stay tuned for more throughout the day!

Happy Birthday to Ben!

:pompom::flyer:

Wow it's only Thursday and it keeps getting better and better already! Not only did 3DHS unveil the new 60" Yak-55 (see previous post) but Noll and Joe put together a birthday surprise for Ben, who thought he could get away without a birthday celebration just because he moved the date of the FLI! His friends did not let Ben get away with that and presented Ben with a custom covered 103" A.J. Slick airframe with an EME120 powerplant. Ben was actually rendered speechless during the presentation of the airframe! (but only for a moment ;)) :megaroll:

Here are some pics of the airframe:
(oh yeah, Happy Birthday, Ben!)

Here is the test flight earlier in the day:

Raffle Prizes Announced!

Ok...big news here, and I really mean it! ;)

The stack of raffle prizes for tomorrow's raffle has been assembled. I think in this case a picture is really worth a thousand words, so I'll let this picture speak for itself. NOTE: This is only the airframe prizes! Hitec is also providing a set of high quality high speed digital servos...pictures will be provided when available.

ENJOY!!!

And if you can get here and get some raffle tickets, you have the possibility of winning some awesome prizes!

Update: things are really busy here; there is a whole lot of flying going on! Ben's flying his birthday present, Jared's flying the 126" Slick and starting to lay down some awesome smoke, Wamsy is eating rudder servos for lunch, and Noll is giving pwny rides on bigfoot. One of the club members, Arnold, was given a (preorder) bigfoot by the members of his club for his birthday and for all the help that he provides to the club, like keeping the electric circuits from overloading on really hot days like yesterday and today! RotorJockey (Fred) continues to rock the party with his 100cc AeroWorks Edge. Flight rules are simple: no flying behind the orange cones/flags ;) RCGirl and bbrown both made it here safely, and DaOldGuy has made a visit from PA! HugoCraft is throwing down nicely with his 89" Slick. Tons of video taken today...will upload some soonest.

RAFFLE UPDATE: IN ADDITION TO ALL THE PRIZES SHOW EARLIER, I have learned that a Bigfoot airframe will also be a prize in the raffle! Don't forget to buy your raffle tickets!!

Well, the afternoon is wearing on, and the fun is ramping up. More pilots have arrived, some from as far as Michigan and Pennsylvania!
We've got smoke in the skies, a few oops here and there, and plenty of sun. Good ribs from the local firemen who are staffing the awesome food truck, and we've got lights for night flying tonight. Here's another batch of action photos from your roving reporting on the scene, SnowDog ;)
Everyone here is so friendly and supportive of this web site, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone at the event who supports 3drcforums.com!
