Multi-rotors - Share your setups and headaches

I started like most with a phantom and then it quickly derailed from there, dual carbon battery tray, 2 axis gimbal, and a modded go pro. Quickly out grew that and went with a wookong setup on a dji 550, now I am up to a s800/rct multirotor.

These things are so much fun to capture pics/ videos so who else is into building these on GSN?
I still enjoy flying giant scale airplanes but flying multirotors have really got me interested in RC again over the past few years.

So post your setups, questions, and share your experiences .

My current builds

IR trigger
HDMI converter
Sony Nex5n with 6mm 2.8f pancake lens
orange rx for the gimbal
Spektrum dx6i for the camera operator
DJI Wookong M
Carbon Props
DJI top and bottom plates
DJI gear controller
RCtimer ASP 3-axis gimbal w/ alexmos controller
Hitec A9 for flight controls
Pulso 16000 mah 6s Lipo
4s lipo for FPV and Gimbal

FPV 250 racer
emax 1806 motors
1.5 flight controller

I am getting 20 minutes of flight time with 63% left remaining in the 6s Lipo, I should easily see 25mins if I wanted .

Anyone have any experience tuning gimbals ? I am struggling to figure out if I am getting some RF noise or if I need to adjust my PID settings more as I am getting some tremors in flight from the gimbal.

That’s alexmos... it’s almost beyond frustrating... I spent HOURS trying to mess with Alexmos... awful.

A few of the rigs?? WOW I know Bart probably doesn't want multirotor discussions on this site but just out of curiosity what multirotor did you start out with Sleepy? I did check out MultiRotorForums.com and it's certainly the place to go for help and advice..

I have a go pro 3 black and a rage cams 5.4mm lens sitting in an arris 3000 3 axis gimbal, I love that setup and it uses alexmos but it took me a few hours to get it to work right but now it's rock solid. With the heavier nex5n I can't seem to get it just right. Im gonna buy some more ferrite rings and make sure im not getting excessive noise and maybe that will clear up some issues.

Very nice rigs sleepy c, how do you like the XAircraft ? I've been thinking about switching from DJI to try them out but i've been using dji for
almost 2 years so it's hard to make a switch LOL

@Vital-Rc

nice stuff but are you aware that we also run MultiRotorForums.com? Arguably the world's best multi-rotor helicopter online community approaching 17,000 members from all over the world and active 24 hours a day.

Bartman,

I troll over there every now and then, working 60 plus hours a week and having a family its hard for me to keep up with all the forums
so I figured i'd just start a thread where I am most active at. Can you guys change "you" to "your" on the thread title? I'm missing an R on my
key pad and you have to press it hard for it to register LOL.

Thanks,
Justin

I started out with a homebuilt quad. Then wasted TONS of money on mistakes, andeven though I worked for another site it was when I found Multirotorforums.com and got some decent advice I made progress. My rigs are all commercial rigs. I would not own them if they did not make money. But they are all pretty awesome.
And I love the SuperX but also love the WKM and A2.
