My regular (Monocote) iron is at my shop hobby room and it's in rough condition anyway. Impatient on my new iron delivery from Amazon I decided to shrink the bottom covering with a traditional iron. I monitored the heat before starting the shrinking and large iron worked well, very well. The covering is very tight.

What is the neatest way to trim excess covering?

Paint the corner or edge with some stix-it let it dry and then cut the glue will hold everything together.

It's easy to trim the 1st run. The overlay not so much.

New iron is in. It's a good bit bigger than a Tower hobbies iron.

A couple of questions for the experienced poly fiber guys. How to predict/control the shrinkage in this area?

Do I Poly Tak the fuse top seam?

To cut the fabric, I paint the fabric along the cut line with Poly Brush and let it dry, then hold a razor blade at low angle along the cut line and pull the fabric up along the cut line. The PolyBrush keeps the fabric from fraying.
Control shrinkage with low heat, don't go crazy with the heat, it will warp the structure.
For the top seam, paint the top stringer with Poly tach and slowly work the seam onto the stringer keeping the seam as straight as possible

I having a hard time deciding on this cut.

A practice run shows my concern.

I don’t see any other way than doing the side as one piece and the top as another. The longeron would be the place to wrap the side fabric around. Then the top piece would roll partially around it as well. Cover the seam with finishing tape.

Will be interesting to hear others’s opinions though.

I think that I cut the fabric so that it covered the area around the back window and took whatever I got on the top. I mat have added a piece of fabric on top to cut edge on top of the wing on the area covered with the aluminum fairing. There is pinking tape along the edge of the fairing as well. Study the photos. See the pinking tape covers the area.
