Scale Nelitz 1/3 scale Cub build

I've never really had an axle plan so I've come up with one. I cut a 1/4" socket bolt down to axle size. I was too impatient to order full thread bolts so I had to add some threads.

I used the new tight threads to taper a nut to help with self centering the axle.

I've always wanted a (semi) scale brake hub. Working on drawing something close.

Do you think it will fly this season.

Snoopy, not likely. I definitely need a paint booth and I need to decide where. Under my deck would be preferable but there are several obstacles. Wind, regular rain and quality control. Additionally my oldest son is getting married in October and we will host many out of town family members. Thinking a paint booth would not be a good idea that weekend.

At my shop where my other hobby room is would be best but I'm not going to set up a paint booth there until the Cub is ready. I will vacuum and completely blow out the room right before I set up is my thought.

More pre paint prep. The wing struts need some sort of covering. Probably light fiberglass and a finishing resin but I could stay with Poly fabric. The glass and epoxy would be less smelly.

Nobody sees then if you fly off grass! There is brake drum behind the backing plate. i flown the plane enough that paint is wearing off the bottom of the plates.

There are a lot of parts to paint. You will need several jigs to hold the parts.

Soft solder a piece of 1/4" music wire, something else will bend before the axle, Pretty sure that the way the BUSA is built. I covered my gear with fabric, see drawing below.

Not much to report this weekend. Decided to get started on covering the landing gear.
