I don't know what the criteria is but can not imagine how Frank does not meet it. He has my vote!

Another statement from Frank regarding his intentions if elected AMA President

Wow, sometimes it's so tough to convey my thoughts. It's like I know what I am thinking but the thoughts do not transform into the proper words! The REASONS I sought to be president were MULTIPLE. For Example;

1- I'd like to streamline the Large Scale Airplane program so that pilots don't have to sign up every year for the same airplane they have been flying for the past 12 months. Just creates paper work and unreasonable expense, for everyone.

2- One person alone CANNOT father a program for youth without an audience! I'm am SO surprised you don't recognize that Jay. The Prez. has a magazine column with 100,000 viewers, a considerable presence at Trade Shows and a mile high Soap Box! To get a youth program going you need the entire AMA behind you. Right now, they have ZERO!

3- I'd like to see more insurance coverage made available, for those who run events and are WILLING to PAY for the premium.

4- I'd lilke to see Event SPONSORS names allowed to be added to the Additional Insured List. They are NOT allowed currently.

5- I'd like to see more "teeth" into how a person flying dangerously is reprimanded.

6- I'd like to see a severe separation in applicable rules" between DRONES and Model AIRCRAFT!

7- I'd lke to see the AMA cater to fixed wing pilots to the SAME Degree as they curently do to Drone operators, thousands of who, by the way, have blatently said they have no USE for the AMA's rules or procedures!

Must I go on? How about this? I wanted to be President to be instrumental in EVERYTHING that needs to be done and HAS NOT BEEN! I know the president cannot do it by himself, but the proper leader, who knows WHAT HE's DOING, can be mighty helpful in leading the way. Of course I have an Ego. Most people that are successful in what they do KNOW they are successful. I've been doing this hobby thing for more years that most of the members are old, and I paid attention along the way, made lots of mistakes, and made some really good moves as well. I thought I was QUALIFIED for the position. The board thought differently and voted in their own.

End of story. Hopefully this response may answer at least some of your question

Numbers 5,6,and 7 make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I am no longer a member of my previous club because of guys breaking rules CONSTANTLY and there were no repercussions. Then when I became the safety officer I was the "bad guy" for enforcing the safety code.

Also, it would be nice to not open the new month of Model Aviation and have to thumb through 45 pages of these damn quad copters to find 3 pages of airplanes or helis'.

Go Frank Go!! Make the AMA great again! ;)

Someone on another forum posted that write-in votes are not permitted unless the candidate has met certain criteria. Do we know for sure that Frank meets the requirements?
I'm sure he has but let's see what someone at AMA has to say. Can someone please call AMA Monday and see if they have an official position on this? If you read Frank's statement in the original post he's been involved at AMA at all levels so he should be as qualified as anyone.

He was nominated to run but they left him off the ballot for whatever reason and it's likely that the people at AMA are already aware of this write-in campaign. I'd guess they're not happy!

Some official info would be helpful though so if anyone wants to please call AMA and find out we'd appreciate it. Whatever you do though, please be polite and diplomatic, especially if they're not! :)

Here is the section pertaining to being eligible for AMA president.

Section 4. To be eligible to discharge the duties of AMA President or Executive Vice President, the nominee must be a Leader Member of the AMA, and must previously have served as a member of the Executive Council or as Associate Vice President or as a Contest Board member for at least one year. To be eligible for the position of any
AMA elected or appointed office, including Associate Vice President, the individual must be recorded in the Membership department as a Leader Member before the date of application or nomination.

Frank is currently a Leader member and a Contest board member, therefore he is qualified by AMA by-laws. He has also been District 5 associate vice president and is currently an experimental aircraft inspector meaning if it exceeds 55lbs he can help clear you.

I'm in, I have never voted in the past, because for the most part I thought the AMA ran fairly smooth. But, I think they really dropped the ball on the drone issue. The day I had to "register my drone" with the FAA when I don't have a "drone" really ticked me off.

I'm from a family of political junkies and to me all politicians sound like this:

But, that being said, I think Frank might be what the AMA needs right now. A write in is a long shot, but it's certainly worth a try.

That was more of what I was looking for. Specifics of things to change. Not sure I completely understand the insurance for vendors and if claims are made how that affects my dues. But everything else is good. And I'm not a FT fan, but may still write him in
