Well you are getting there the fitting off the cowl is one off those jobs I don't like doing. But since I have had the opportunity to use a laser pointer it has made the fitting of the cowl a lot better and easier. Must it is shinny that always takes some time and two days to get your hands clean.

Day late and dollar short....but here's 2 of the full on front view of the Beast panel. Same but with different backgrounds.

Not entirely. Canopy is still not installed.

Thank you Earle.

Looking good sir!

Technically, the full scale whose scheme you modeled "Miss Maggie" is a two place Model 12 with a single place canopy. Therefore it has the shorter panel, like the one you installed. Instruments are different, but I personally like the big screen you picked better!

Thank you. This is the one I referred to mostly. I've been trying to keep it as close to the full scale as possible. Maybe I should just leave well enough alone?
It's looking great Rob!
Oh hey, thanks! It's kind of cool to look at it up close. I didn't get a few things perfect. But I'm hoping she'll look as good in the air.

I did not forget everyone. Just too many irons in the fire at present. And here I go contemplating yet another. I've been doing a lot of thinking about projects I want to do in the future. I had been planning a Pilot 55% Yak. But want to do something of my own blood. Obviously my Don Smith 112" Mustang is possibly getting moved up to the short list. After the 106cs powered "something". I've narrowed the playing field down to two choices. One being a Pilot 330. Just not sure which one yet. The other choice, (which I am leaning very heavily towards) the EF MXS. But that is a mid Spring project. The Stang, probably after the one I "really" want to build. I won't divulge too many particulars yet, as I am not 100% certain on a few things. I will give a few details however. It will be a one of a kind custom built by me, my favorite airframe (sport/aerobatic) and roughly between 46-55ish%. I will be looking at the ZDZ 420 very seriously. But initially leaning towards the ever faithful and strikingly beauty of a cs "dub"! Unless DLE comes out with a 340cc 4 cylinder or a 360cc 6 cylinder.

Ok, back to the Pitts. I've not gotten a lot accomplished on the cowl. But I did get the exhaust openings cut. I have two things that I really stall on when it comes to projects like this. The canopy and the cowl. Ah but they have to be done.

The openings for the down stacks on the exhaust were actually much easier on the Pitts than previous planes. Two little alignment marks on the inside of the cowl and success. I had to elongate both openings just a tad to get the cowl on. It has to go on at an angle and so it was necessary to accommodate the stacks. They turned out quite evenly spaced and very uniform in shape. Fortunately they didn't interfere with the scoop on the bottom. Or is that vice versa? At any rate they look pretty good. They are not perfect like the full scale. But pretty close.

I made some temporary baffles and hot glued them inside the cowl. They should give me a closer idea of what the final baffles will be like.

I talked with Supa Tim today and there is still no word for the 50cc size G Force Pilots. So I am forced to go a different route. Anyone have some suggestions? Remember, weight is not an issue at this point. I need just a little balast for better balance. As long as it doesn't weigh like three pounds. Lol

A few photos of the cowl progress.

I have blocked off the scoop and will be adding a screen to the front once the cowl is painted. On the bottom of the scoop I will be adding a TDRC vent to relieve the air and allow it to pass through and back out. I don't know if the opened scoop will create any drag but I can't allow the air pressure to blow air into the cowl. It would really defeat any attempts to get the hot air from the engine out. I will probably also add some vents to the sides of the cowl near each cylinder head. Maybe replicate the full scale look a little closer to original.

So that's about it for now. Will update more as time allows.

Hi there you do know that DA makes 300 6 cylinder engine on order. They had one JoeNall once I believe 2 years back it was beautiful and the sound just incredible. If I can find the video I will past in .

Found another one I think this would be a good starting point for a new project. Man Stang I cannot believe the size of planes you are prepared to build. How do you man handle them while building . And getting them to and from the field. These are very big and heavy. You must have one massive trailer.
