Initially, I see two problem areas. Block off the back of the motor. Also the front of the engine. Air as you know, is like water. It will always follow the path of least resistance. The air has to be forced down through all four cylinders. To do this, you need to block off any where the air can escape before making it to the jugs. A split cowl like my son's big Edge is pretty easy to do. But as you can see with the Yaks one peice round cowl, I had to build around the dub and build a full box that is completely closed off. The air will be forced down through the cylinders. Then with the louvers on the cowl, the 4"×5" open in the bottom of the cowl where the front dumps...dump and the belly vent to allow air to pass out over the cans...there is plenty of positive "pull" to help the air to be drawn out. I will try to get photos of Shayne's P.U., I mean P.A.U. 43% Edge.

Thanks for the pointers. I will block the back off and finish the baffles around the front of the engine. The front of the cowl is blocked off on the bottom just two little square holes to let air in. I will post some pictures tonight of that. I would still like to see the pictures of the edge if you don't mind.

Sounds good to me. I like your cooling box setup but how does the hot air get out. Mine has just the standard baffle to keep air out of the bottom of the cowl and two scoops on top of cowl that point directly at rear two cylinders.

Where did you get the scoops that were installed on top of the cowl. Looks good but I think most of your cooling air is escaping at the back we're the engine is mounted I think.

I did it. Pulled an all day'er and got 'er done. All that is left is to bolt on the prop, charge the batts and blast this beast off.

I'm pretty happy this done now. Really have missed flying this bird.

Next up: rebalance the Pitts and get her back out to really wring her out.

That is nicely done like the box idea that really captures all the air. One thing I did notice is that you have the horizontal baffle about 1/2 or more below the spark plug why and how did you get to this conclusion because most of the time the horizontal baffle is at centreline. Like the idea and makes life a lot easier to install.

After flying my Yak on Saturday I realized the CG was too far back, and the covering was really peeling back on the bottom, so with only 2 flights I had to pack it up and haul it home since I didn't want to tape it up at the field o_O

A new sheet of black covering (since I don't have any silver) went over the bottom and I sealed all of the edges with some CA to hopefully keep it from peeling back again- I've already repaired this section a few times. It ain't no beauty queen so I wasn't concerned with the look.

I also shifted my flight packs a few inches forward of the CG and re-did the vent line plumbing on my tank since it was in the way. Looks like it's time to change out all of the Tygon...

Next up I want to delete the ignition battery in favor of a Tech Aero IBEC :)

If you are going to redoe the tubing there was some new tubbing being demonstrated at JoeNall it is made by Sullivan and it is yellow, never to go hard, I was going to get some but just forgot but it seems be the best tubing going, a lot of people were switching over at JoeNall.

I saw it, looks interesting. I have a bunch of Tygon on hand already so I'll be using that. Is the Sullivan stuff transparent?
